River Malewa and River Turasha are the only rivers in the drainage basin. The Malewa River drains off Sattima, its headwaters reaching up to the highest upland valleys. It plunges down the Sattima Escarpment onto the Ol Bolossat plain through a magnificent steep walled gorge, with walls nearly 1,000 feet high, the Malewa ndogo gorge.
