lasting effect than does captopril. Indications are hypertension and cardiac failure. Lowering of an elevated blood pressure is predominantly brought about by diminished production of angiotensin II. Impaired degradation of kinins that exert vasodilating actions may contribute to the effect. In heart failure, cardiac output rises again because ventricular afterload diminishes due to a fall in peripheral resistance.
OSGi in Action is a comprehensive guide to OSGi with two primary goals. First, it provides a clear introduction to OSGi concepts with examples that are relevant both for architects and developers. Then, it explores numerous practical scenarios and techniques, answering questions like: How much of OSGi do you actually need? How do you embed OSGi inside other containers? What are the best practices for moving legacy systems to OSGi?
ndroid in Action, Third Edition is a comprehensive tutorial for Android developers. This fast-paced book puts you in the driver's seat -- you'll master the SDK, build WebKit apps using HTML 5, and even learn to extend or replace Android's built-in features by building useful and intriguing examples.
About the Technology
When it comes to mobile apps, Android can do almost anything, and with this book, so can you! Android, Google's popular mobile operating system and SDK for tablets and smart phones, is the broadest mobile platform available.

Lift in Action is a step-by-step exploration of the Lift framework. It moves through the subject quickly using carefully crafted, well-explained examples that make you comfortable from the start. This book is written for developers who are new to both Scala and Lift.
About the Technology
Lift is a Scala-based web framework designed for extremely interactive and engaging web applications. It's highly scalable, production-ready, and will run in any servlet container. And Lift's convention-over-configuration approach lets you avoid needless work....
Every action in SQL Server - queries, updates, whatever - leaves a set of tiny footprints; SQL Server records all that valuable data and makes it visible through Dynamic Management Views, or DMVs. A DBA or developer can use this incredibly detailed information to significantly improve the performance of queries and better understand what's really going on inside a SQL Server system
R in Action is the first book to present both the R system and the use cases that make it such a compelling package for business developers. The book begins by introducing the R language, including the development environment. Focusing on practical solutions, the book also offers a crash course in practical statistics and covers elegant methods for dealing with messy and incomplete data using features of R.
Bacterial type IV secretion systems (T4SS) form supramolecular protein
complexes that are capable of transporting DNA or protein substrates
across the bacterial cell envelope and, in many cases, also across eukaryotic
target cell membranes.
A discussion of the requirements for policy-oriented future studies — saliency, credibility, transformability into policymaking inputs, and desirability by the policymaking system. To be salient, future studies should relate alternative futures to present decisions, deal with matters of actual or potential concern, recognize possible future developments, examine critical issues even if unlink......
User simulations are shown to be useful in spoken dialog system development. Since most current user simulations deploy probability models to mimic human user behaviors, how to set up user action probabilities in these models is a key problem to solve. One generally used approach is to estimate these probabilities from human user data. However, when building a new dialog system, usually no data or only a small amount of data is available.
dictated by the amount of language work which can be carded out, given the resources available. The This paper introduces Boas, a semi-automatic rules of the game specifically exclude linguists and knowledge elicitation system that guides a team of MT developers from the acquisition team.
Much effort has been put into computational lexicons over the years, and most systems give much room to (lexical) semantic data. However, in these systems, the effort put on the study and representation of lexical items to express the underlying continuum existing in 1) language vagueness and polysemy, and 2) language gaps and mismatches, has remained embryonic.
The wealthy now have more disposable income than at
any time in history. Proponents of raising taxes on affluent
households to fund services suggest that these households
should pay higher taxes now because they have benefitted so
much from tax cuts in recent years.
Taxing high incomes to pay for state services may also be one
of the best approaches available to states to limit economic
harm in a high unemployment, slow-growth environment.

We use an EM algorithm to learn user models in a spoken dialog system. Our method requires automatically transcribed (with ASR) dialog corpora, plus a model of transcription errors, but does not otherwise need any manual transcription effort. We tested our method on a voice-controlled telephone directory application, and show that our learned models better replicate the true distribution of user actions than those trained by simpler methods and are very similar to user models estimated from manually transcribed dialogs. ...
This paper describes a system which generates animations for cooking actions in recipes, to help people understand recipes written in Japanese. The major goal of this research is to increase the scalability of the system, i.e., to develop a system which can handle various kinds of cooking actions. We designed and compiled the lexicon of cooking actions required for the animation generation system. The lexicon includes the action plan used for animation generation, and the information about ingredients upon which the cooking action is taken. ...
We describe how context-sensitive, usertailored output is specified and produced in the COMIC multimodal dialogue system. At the conference, we will demonstrate the user-adapted features of the dialogue manager and text planner. three-dimensional walkthrough of the finished bathroom. We will focus on how context-sensitive, usertailored output is generated in the third, guidedbrowsing phase of the interaction. Figure 2 shows a typical user request and response from COMIC in this phase.
