  • The activity for this module is a group discussion in which students will use the root causes of project failure as the basis for comparing and sharing their own experiences with Information Technology (IT) projects. The module concludes with an instructor-led question and answer review to reinforce learning objectives. At the end of this module, students will be able to: Describe MSF by explaining how MSF addresses the typical root causes of project failure, the origins of MSF, and how MSF differs from a methodology.

  • Monitoring and regular review. Project manage- ment must keep track of how the project is progressing in terms of expenditure, resource use, implementation of activities, delivery of results and the management of risks. This is achieved through ‘monitoring’, which is the systematic and continu- ous collection, analysis and use of management information to support effective decision-making. Monitoring is an internal management responsibil- ity, although it may be complemented by ‘external’ monitoring inputs.

  • Semi-supervised word alignment aims to improve the accuracy of automatic word alignment by incorporating full or partial manual alignments. Motivated by standard active learning query sampling frameworks like uncertainty-, margin- and query-by-committee sampling we propose multiple query strategies for the alignment link selection task. Our experiments show that by active selection of uncertain and informative links, we reduce the overall manual effort involved in elicitation of alignment link data for training a semisupervised word aligner. ...

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a framework to explain and describe the daily cash flow management processes of families. From data gathered through semi-structured interviews, themes are developed and linked into a daily cash flow management framework. The proposed model suggests that families have a process for managing money. The process focuses on short-term viability through safety, control, comfort, and routine aspects. Cash flow activities are motivated by the near future, feelings and values, experience, and situational knowledge.

  • Recent years have witnessed high levels of activity in identifying enzyme systems that catalyse H-transfer by quantum tunneling. Rather than being restricted to a small number of specific enzymes as perceived initially, it has now become an accepted mechanism for H-transfer in a growing number of enzymes. Furthermore, H-tunneling is driven by the thermally induced dynamics of the enzyme. In some of those enzymes that break stable C–H bonds the reaction proceeds purely by quantum tunneling, without the need to partially ascend the barrier.

  • We describe how movement is handled in a class of computational devices called active production networks (APNs). The APN model is a parallel, activation-basod framework that ha= been applied to other aspects of natural language processing. The model is briefly defined, the notation and mechanism for movement is explained, and then several examples are given which illustrate how various conditions on movement can naturally be explained in terms of limitations of the APN device. I.

  • ASP (Active Server Pages) is a web development technology that's leapt through several stages of evolution. It was first introduced as an easy way to add dynamic content to ordinary web pages. Since then, it’s grown into something much more ambitious: a platformfor creating advanced web applications, including e-commerce shops, data-driven portal sites, and just about anything else you can find on the Internet. ASP.NET 2.0 is the latest version of ASP, and it represents the most dramatic change yet. With ASP.

A more formal definition of KM, given by the American Productivity and Quality Center, is ‘the strategies and processes of identifying, capturing and leveraging knowledge’ (Manasco, 1996). It is an emerging field that has gained considerable attention, predominantly from the industrial community.

  • In a WDM network, a single component failure may lead to multiple failures in the logical topology. Protection switching schemes that adopt traditional edge-disjoint or node-disjoint path-selection algorithms may not be able to protect the active connections properly. In this paper, we generalize the disjoint path problem by providing a framework that can model arbitrary types of failures, so that a solution to the problem can be applied to protection switching in WDM networks.
