The book "Developments in Electrochemistry" contains five feature articles in recent advanced electrochemistry. These selected feature articles emphasize physical phenomena rather than mathematical formalisms of electrochemistry.

Understanding of the transport and attenuation of chemicals in the subsurface is fundamental
to effective management of risks posed by chemicals and their possible impact on
groundwater resources. A risk assessment approach to groundwater protection incorporates
the three-stage combination of source, pathway and receptor. All three must be considered
and understood to arrive at a balanced view of the risks to health of groundwater users.
Informed consideration of the pathway, which in the context of this monograph means
transport through the groundwater system, is vital.

The unique practical properties of adsorption have promoted its extensive
use in genetic analysis. The disadvantages of adsorption with respect to covalent
immobilization are mainly that (1) nucleic acids may be readily desorbed
from the substrate, and (2) base moieties may be unavailable for hybridization
if they are bonded to the substrate in multiple sites . However, the
electrochemical detection strategy based on the intrinsic oxidation of DNA
requires the DNA to be adsorbed in close contact with the electrochemical
substrate by multi-point attachment.

Various treatment technologies have been developed. In this paper, the potential of removing heavy metals from aqueous solution by using porous aluminosilicate was studied. The solid sorbents were synthesized by reaction of sodium silicate and alumino sulfate with sol-gel method.

In Molecular simulation of nanoparticle diffusion at ﬂuid interfaces molecular dynamics simulations are used to exam- ine the transport properties of a nanoparticle in both bulk solvent and at a liquid–liquid interface. Speciﬁcally it aims to address the effect of interfacial adsorption on the diffusion of nanoparticles (at low concentration).
Hydrotalcite-type (HT) materials based on ZnAlO and MgAlO have been prepared and investigated by various physico-chemical method: IR, XRD, BET... It was found that the HT structure depended on the nature and the atom ratio of the metals. The adsorption ability of the materials was tested with the reactive dyes Red 3BA as a model compound. The results indicated that the materials with the HT structure and atom ratio of Me2+ /Me3+ = 3 : 1 calcinated at < 500o C have the highest dyes removal. That could be related with the chemical characterization.
