Software is today used in more and different ways than ever before. From refrigerators
and cars to space shuttles and smart cards. As such, most software, usually need to
adhere to a specification, i.e. to make sure that it does what is expected.
Normally, a software engineer goes through a certain process to establish that the
software follows a given specification. This process, verification and validation (V
& V), ensures that the software conforms to its specification and that the customers
ultimately receive what they ordered.
There are books which offer just another spin on a
common subject, maybe with a different emphasis
than previous authors, yet which add nothing substantially
new to the vast field of literature that is
already available in the field of manual therapies.
The book which you hold in your hands, dear
reader, clearly belongs to a different kind. It is
the first time that an internationally respected
teacher of deep tissue work offers an easy to follow
and clearly organized manual for direct myofascial
In this volume I present some examples of Basic Concepts, Examination of Functions, Level Curves
and Level Surfaces and Description of Curves, cf. also Calculus 2b, Functions of Several Variables.
Since my aim also has been to demonstrate some solution strategy I have as far as possible structured
the examples according to the following form
A Awareness, i.e. a short description of what is the problem.
D Decision, i.e. a reflection over what should be done with the problem.
I Implementation, i.e. where all the calculations are made.
C Control, i.e. a test of the result.
There are a number of excellent books on the market addressing the role of complementary
and alternative medicine (CAM) in nursing, midwifery and physiotherapy
(Rankin-Box 2001, Tiran 2000, Charman, 2000) which review, in
general, a range of themes relevant to the discipline. As far as possible I have
tried to avoid going over the same ground in this· book, however, there will be
inevitably some overlap. In addition I have assumed that the reader has a prior
level of knowledge covering paediatric, professional and legal issues in nursing.
Oil and gas are the most important non-renewable sources of energy. Exploring, producing and managing these resources in compliance with HSE standards are challenging tasks. New technologies, workflows and procedures have to be implemented. This book deals with some of these themes and describes some of the advanced technologies related to the oil and gas industry from HSE to field management issues. Some new technologies for geo-modeling, transient well testing and digital rock physics are also introduced. There are many more technical topics to be addressed in future books.
This compendium aims at providing a comprehensive overview of the main topics that appear
in any well-structured course sequence in statistics for business and economics at the
undergraduate and MBA levels. The idea is to supplement either formal or informal statistic
textbooks such as, e.g., “Basic Statistical Ideas for Managers” by D.K. Hildebrand and R.L.
Ott and “The Practice of Business Statistics: Using Data for Decisions” by D.S. Moore,
G.P. McCabe, W.M. Duckworth and S.L. Sclove, with a summary of theory as well as with
a couple of extra examples.
We present in this paper a morphological analyzer and generator for French that contains a dictionary of 700,000 inflected words called DELAF 1, and a full twolevel system aimed at the analysis of new derivatives. Hence, this tool recognizes and generates both correct inflected forms of French simple words (DELAF lookup procedure) and new derivatives and their inflected forms (two-level analysis). Moreover, a clear distinction is made between dictionary look-up processes and new words analyses in order to clearly identify the analyses that involve heuristic rules.
In our study, we aimed to determine the validity of diagnostic methods for tuberculosis. Eighty-one
people suspected to have tuberculosis were included in the study. The validity of the applied methods
for the diagnosis of tuberculosis tuberculin skin test (TST), sputum smear, and used in diagnostic chest
X-ray findings (CXR), clinical features and history were evaluated as culture was considered the
reference test. Included in the study of 81 people (54 males 27 females) mean age was determined as
45.04 ± 18.69.
Because of the simple fact that high school standards and quality vary widely, colleges look to standardized
tests to level the playing field for all students. Unlike the SAT, the aim of the ACT is to test what you have
learned in high school. It is not an “aptitude” test, as the SAT claims to be, nor is it an intelligence test. So if
you have taken challenging courses in high school, you have already set the foundation to do well on the ACT.
The aim of this textbook is to provide a step-by-step guide to financial econometrics using EViews 6.0 statistical package. It contains brief overviews of econometric concepts, models and data analysis techniques followed by empirical examples of how they can be implemented in EViews.
This book is written as a compendium for undergraduate and graduate students in economics and finance. It also can serve as a guide for researchers and practitioners who desire to use EViews for analysing financial data.
Obviously, in this case we cannot fully eliminate the identification and causality
problem because firms’ profits/losses may affect their demand for credit as well. In order to
circumvent this problem (at least partly) we use in addition an interaction variable between
the profitability dummy and the lagged value of the access to credit variable. The rationale is
to test whether long-term enterprise-bank relations are associated with the firm’s viability.
This lab will introduce students to a simple bioassay that will allow them to explore the effects
that a chemical's concentration has on the level of toxicity. By relying on morphological
examination of sponges hatching from gemmules that are smaller than a millimeter in diameter, this
module will help students develop their microscopy skills. Our major aim, however, is to have
students strengthen their ability to design and test their own hypotheses.
