Math is an integral part of our increasingly complex daily life. Calculus for the
Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences, Seventh Edition, attempts to illustrate this
point with its applied approach to mathematics. Our objective for this Seventh
Edition is twofold: (1) to write an applied text that motivates students and (2) to
make the book a useful teaching tool for instructors. We hope that with the present
edition we have come one step closer to realizing our goal.

Polymer blends containing nylon-6 and polypropylene (PP) were prepared by using a single screw extruder. Three different types of maleic anhydride modified PP (PPMA06, PPMA1and PPMA05) were used as compabilizers to examine their effects. The properties included tensile strength, Izod impact strength, torque rheometry and extent of water absorption of the resulting blends were measured and the morphology was characterized by using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The crystallization behavior of blends was analyzed by monitoring differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction.

The surface treatment by physical method of jute fiber using air plasma was investigated. Fiber was treated by the atmospheric plasma with various conditions of power 50W and different treatment times (from 1 min to 7 min). After treatment, the characteristics of fiber changed remarkably and fiber surface observed by SEM analyze showed a better morphology for adhesion. The result showed that tensile strength and Young’s modulus of jute fiber were slightly improved, however there was a remarkable improvement interface adhesion between fibers and polypropylene (PP) resin.

analyzing real estate investment problems from an economic viewpoint by
using tools from the possibility theory. The analysis in this paper
demonstrates the relation between the amount of uncertainty and the
investment scale for different types of personal investors.
