Most noteworthy is that our Impact Factor
continued to rise and in the last analysis for the year 2009
the number is 2.179, which is a further increase of 12.7%
over the IF of 2008. The IJGC ranks 93/165 in the Oncology
category (median IF 2.429) and 20/70 in Obstetrics and
Gynecology (median IF 1.658). This achievement is a reflection
of improvement in both scientific merit and editorial
attractiveness to submitters. The print circulation is now 1674
to members and 34 institutions.
Consumer access to credit, housing, insurance, basic utility services, and even
employment is increasingly determined by centralized records of credit history and
automated interpretations of those records.
Credit histories in one form or another have long been an important factor in decisions to
extend or deny credit to consumers
. Historically, such decisions required a skilled,
human evaluation of the information in an applicant’ s credit history to determine the
likelihood that the applicant would repay a future loan in a timely manner.
Thrombin generation increases in several pathological conditions, including
cancer, thromboembolism, diabetes and myeloproliferative syndromes.
During tumor development, thrombin levels increase along with several
other molecules, including cytokines and angiogenic factors. Under such
conditions, it is reasonable to predict that thrombin may recognize new
low-affinity substrates that usually are not recognized under low-expression
Cysteine-rich protein 61 (Cyr61/CCN1) is an angiogenic
factor and a member of a family of growth factor-inducible
immediate-early genes with functions in cell adhesion, pro-liferation and differentiation. We investigated the regulatory
mechanisms and signaling pathways involved inCyr61/
CCN1gene activation in smoothmuscle cells.Treatment of
these cells with sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive
lysolipid, increased rapidly but transiently the expression of
theCyr61/CCN1gene at both themRNAandprotein levels....
Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is an incurable, degenerative, and terminal disease with few
therapeutic options . It is a complex disease influenced by a range of genetic,
environmental, and other factors . Recently, Jack et al. demonstrated the value
of shared data in AD biomarker research. A New York Times article on the role of
data sharing, in the advancement of AD research, quotes John Trojanowski at the Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania Medical School: “It’s not science the way most of us have prac-
ticed it in our careers.
The common theme that attracts many to emergency practice is an interested in all of
the most exciting aspects of each major specialty but a reluctance to giving up on what
other specialties offered at the same time. Emergency medicine, unlike any other field,
combines all of these aspects for its practitioners. However, while offering a
combination of skills and knowledge found nowhere else, it offers unusual challenges
at the same time.
It is difficult to discern exposures from institutions’ reported credit market posi-
tions. Indeed, common data sources such as annual reports and regulatory filings record
accounting measures on a large and diverse number of credit market instruments. Ac-
counting measures are not necessarily comparable across positions. For example, the
economic value of two loans with the same book value but different maturities will react
quite differently to changes in interest rates. At the same time, many instruments are
close substitutes and thus entail essentially the same market risk.
The imagination is questionable (Daily, 1997; Dasgupta, 2000b). In any event, we should
be sceptical of a theory which places such enormous burden on an experience not much more
than two hundred years old (Fogel, 1994; Johnson, 2000). Extrapolation into the past is a
sobering exercise: over the long haul of history (some five thousand years), economic growth
even in the currently-rich countries was for most of the time not much above zero.
More recently, Cox and Fisher (2009) analyzed the titles of contemporary romance
novels to determine if their popularity might be related to evolutionary themes that would
be expected to have widespread appeal when it comes to some of the unique and recurrent
reproductive issues that women confront. The five most common words featured in
romance novel titles were love, bride, baby, man, and marriage, in that order. Common
themes extracted from these titles included commitment, reproduction, masculine/high
ranking suitors, and resources.
In certain countries the Company also provides postretirement benefits other than
pensions to various employees. The cost relating to such plans consists of the present value
of the benefits attributed on equal basis to each year of service, and interest cost on the
accumulated postretirement benefit obligation, which is a discounted amount. The
transition obligation is being recognized through charges to earnings over a twenty-year
period beginning in 1993 in the US and in 1995 for all other plans.
The hierarchical architecture is a straightforward extension of a centralized
architecture. It only requires that the basic central server be modified to propa-
gate any information that it receives (i.e., subscriptions, etc.) on to its “master”
server. In fact, the server/server protocol we use within the hierarchical archi-
tecture is exactly the same as the protocol described in Section 3 for commu-
nication between the servers and the external clients of the event notification
Depending on your perspective, the word telemarketing
can conjure up very different images. As a business owner
selling to consumers or other businesses, telemarketing may be
a solution for vastly improving sales, generating greater suc-
cess, and greatly expanding the reach of your business without
ever leaving the comfort of your office. If you’re a consumer
sitting at home trying to relax when the phone rings at the most
inopportune time, that same word can conjure up feelings of
annoyance, frustration, or fear of being caught up in some type
The historical background of probiotics can be traced back to when the first definition
of probiotic bacteria was given by Russian scientist Elie Metchnikoff who stated that
probiotics are considered to exert a beneficial effect on the host. This was confirmed
later on by an official statement by FAO/WHO. In their reviews, two group of
investigators Matur et al. and Boaventura et al., presented the impact of probiotics on
the physiology of the GIT and the underlying mechanism of action of this microflora
and the benefits derived with the use of probiotics in human and animal nutrition.
The hippocampus and cerebral cortex are areas associated with
seizure initiation and propagation. It is therefore discussed how pathological disturbances
in the local estrogen production after menopause may contribute to an increase in seizures
in some women (Veliskova, 2007).
Estrone is the primary estrogen after menopause, and its main source is subcutaneous fat.
This might be of importance for overweight women with epilepsy. Little is known on the
influence of estrone on epilepsy.
The burning of fossil fuels puts into the atmosphere carbon dioxide, which is
causing gradual global warming. This 'greenhouse effect' may by early next century have
increased average global temperatures enough to shift agricultural production areas, raise sea
levels to flood coastal cities, and disrupt national economies.
Tim undertook the BBS because, “I wanted to focus on
a business career, but was more interested in having a
general degree than narrowing to a specific area of focus.
I focused on Enterprise Development because it
concentrates on the more dynamic aspects of business –
innovation and entrepreneurship – the drivers of growth
and change. This is genuinely interesting and exciting stuff
– getting growth out of a business or new idea – which is
different to the perceptions others might have of business
being a fairly mundane topic to study.
