Students for whom English is a second or additional language (or dialect) are a
growing segment of British ColumbiaÕs K-12 school population. Over the

and educators in those districts have had to develop skills and processes to address the
growing need. With continuing growth in the numbers of ESL students provincewide,
however, the need to provide appropriate ESL services is becoming an issue for districts
in all areas of BC.

results, in terms of the interaction between product choice and usage situation were
found by Green and Rao (1972), Belk (1974) and Srivastava et al. (1978). In a later

particular situation and found it to be relatively stable across situations, thus providing
further support for using consumption situations as a basis for segmenting the market.

Applied Behavior Analysis for TeachersWe prepared the first edition of Applied Behavior Analysis for Teachers over 20 years
ago because we needed a technically sound, systematically organized, and readable
text for our own students. We want students to understand concepts of applied behavior
analysis and also to know how to apply those concepts in classrooms and other settings.
Applied behavior analysis can make a difference; its principles can be used to
teach academic skills, functional skills, and appropriate social behavior.
The inquiry noted the critical importance of teachers. But it also concluded that, unfortunately, the systematic support for classroom teachers to build the appropriate skills to teach reading effectively is inadequate.
