Automation is also important to replace the skilled workers. Welding is one of the most
important jobs in shipyards, and the ratio of the mechanized welding in Japanese
shipyards is 42% in average, and 64% in the most advanced shipyard (Miyazaki 2008).
Further development of mechanized welding calls for a breakthrough. Miyazaki (2008)
showed some challenges such as mechanized welding inside the double hull structure
in the assembly stage, and mechanized butt welding of longitudinals inside the double
hull structure in the erection stage.
Complex IV is the terminal enzyme of the mitochondrial respiratory chain.
In humans, biogenesis of complex IV involves the coordinated assembly of
13 subunits encoded by both mitochondrial and nuclear genomes. The
early stages of complex IV assembly involving mitochondrial DNA-encoded subunits CO1 and CO2 have been well studied.
Recent experiences from carrying out Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacture
(DFM) product studies in industry have reinforced the authors’ belief that consideration
of manufacturing problems at the design stage is the major means available for improving
product quality, reducing manufacturing costs and increasing productivity. In the second

Lean production is based on the logic that nothing will be produced until it is needed. Need is created by an actual demand for the product. When an item is sold, in theory, the market pulls a replacement from the last position in the system or final assembly. This triggers an order to the production line which generates orders at upstream work stations. Lean demands high levels o quality at each stage of the process, strong vendor relations, and a fairly predictable demand for the end product.
