Attitude control

inaccuracies lead to the deviation of operational space trajectory provided by the kinematic mapping. One method to deal with this issue can be found in an adaptive control. Xu and Gu proposed an adaptive control scheme for space robots in both joint space and operational space [Xu et al., 1992, Gu & Xu, 1993]. However, the adaptive control proposed in [Xu et al., 1992] requires perfect attitude control and the adaptive control in [Gu & Xu, 1993] is developed based on an under-actuated system on the assumption that the acceleration of the base-satellite is measurable.

This revision aims to address changes that have taken effect since the publication of the second edition. The most significant change has been in the attitude of industry to concurrent engineering. In 1987, mostly lip service was paid to it; today, it has become general practice in most competitive corporations. In the second edition , the author discussed this as the manufacturing system. In the third edition it becomes the focal point.

We obtain information from SIF on the social screening activity of SRI funds. SIF pro vides information about the use of screens in eleven screening categories: alcohol, tobacco, gambling, defense/ weapons, animal testing, products/services, environment, human rights, labor relations, employment/equality, and community investment. We also obtain information from SIF on whether social screening is performed in-house or delegated to an external firm.

We find that trusting individuals are significantly more likely to buy stocks and risky assets and, conditional on investing in stock, they invest a larger share of their wealth in it. This effect is economically very important: trusting others increases the probability of buying stock by 50% of the average sample probability and raises the share invested in stock by 3.4 percentage points (15.5% of the sample mean). These results are robust to controlling for differences in risk aversion and ambiguity aversion.

This paper examines the integration of family planning (FP) services with HIV and AIDS services (voluntary counselling and testing (VCT), prevention of mother-to-child-transmission (PMTCT) and anti-retroviral therapy (ART)) in Uganda. The paper finds that: FP service integration is more evident in VCT and PMTCT settings where counselling, provision of contraceptive methods other than condoms, and information is available in varying degrees.

In the usual case where a single test is performed on the alpha of one fund (or one portfolio of funds), luck is controlled by setting the significance level γ (or equivalently the Size of the test). The standard approach differs from this framework because it boils down to running a multiple hypothesis test instead of a single one. The null hypothesis H0 of no performance is tested for each of the M funds in the population. In a multiple testing framework, luck refers to the number (or the proportion) of lucky funds among the significant funds that are discovered.

To represent the specific behaviors of this reflection, a schematic model was sought that simultaneously covered health promotion and the Health Policy for the Elderly, with a view to adopting actions for greater awareness, resulting in attitudes of empowerment and suggestions for gerontogeriatric nursing actions. Nola Penders Health Promotion Model(10) was used. Through a chart, it manages to represent the behaviors that can lead to health promotion. Nola Penders Model was developed in the United States in the 1980s, but was little explored in Brazil.

What’s in that water coming out of your tap? Increasingly sophisticated tests detect contaminants we couldn’t have even measured 10 years ago. But just because something’s there, does that mean it’s harmful? Amy Standen reports on one contaminant we’re learning more about -- pharmaceuticals like ibuprofen and birth control pills -- and what we might do about it. It’s surely a sign of the times that a laboratory used to test drinking water would be so high security we can’t even tell you exactly where it is. SCOTT: “This is our lobby area and it is...

Parental concerns and preferences about school travel are often identified as important factors, but many studies do not explore or quantify how this factor influences travel mode choice. This gap in the literature is noteworthy because parental attitudes may be at least as influential as urban form, especially perceptions about safety, social interaction, and convenience (McMillan, 2007). Common concerns include traffic, bullies, and strangers (DiGuiseppi et al, 1998; Hillman et al, 1990; Kerr et al, 2006; Martin and Carlson, 2005).

The Superfund program protects the American public and its resources by cleaning up sites which pose an imminent or long term risk of exposure and harm to human health and the environment. In FY 2013, the Agency will maintain the funding level necessary to respond to emergency releases of hazardous substances as well as maintain the goal of sites achieving human exposure and groundwater migration under control.

In terms of their attitudes towards the benefi ts of work and accumulating wealth, New Zealanders do not differ markedly from respondents from the comparator countries. New Zealand has a high-quality regulatory environment. It is assessed by the World Bank as being second in the OECD (and third in the world) for overall ease of doing business. However, there is still scope for New Zealand to further improve its performance in certain sub-indicators.

Antituberculosis drug resistance is increasing both in the United Kingdom and internationally.12 It has come to greater public attention with the emergence of extensively drug resistant tuberculosis (box 1) in South Africa, where an outbreak proved rapidly fatal among people with advanced HIV infection.3 In this article we review recent global and UK trends in drug resistant tuberculosis and summarise its diagnosis, treatment, and control.

Fund managers will be seeking to understand the dynamics of the business in which the company operates and in particular, potential growth rates into the future. The track record of the company and its senior executives will be of importance. ‘Quality of earnings’ will often govern how much a fund manager will pay for a particular share. A predictable earnings stream and growth trajectory is of great value. Corroboration of profit and loss account by strong and predictable cash-flow is important.

In our review of barriers to adequate pain management, we found two factors that were identified as a barrier in more than two studies: negative provider attitudes and poor provider knowledge.
