Born amidst the furious social changes of the mid-1960s, postmodern architecture redefined the purposes of a prestigious profession. In this work, Magali Sarfatti Larson gives a bold and comprehensive account of the social, economic, and ideological shifts that cracked the modernist dogma and reintroduced historical allusion, diversity, and ornament into architectural discourse and practice.
Technology-based planning is what was used to build the US industrial giants before WWII (e.g., Dow, DuPont, GM) and it what was used to transform the US into a superpower. It was not economic-based planning.
Project Socrates determined that to rebuild US competitiveness, decision making throughout the US had to readopt technology-based planning.
We report that autonomous oscillations, which usually happen in aerobic
glucose-limited continuous cultures of yeast at low dilution rate, were also
observed in trehalose discontinuous cultures ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae.
This unexpected oscillatory behaviour was therefore examined using fast
Fourier transformation of online gas measurements. This robust mathemat-ical analysis underlined the existence of two types of oscillation.
AN ASYMPTOTIC RESULT FOR SOME DELAY DIFFERENCE EQUATIONS WITH CONTINUOUS VARIABLE
CH. G. PHILOS AND I. K. PURNARAS Received 14 October 2003
We consider a nonhomogeneous linear delay difference equation with continuous variable and establish an asymptotic result for the solutions. Our result is obtained by the use of a positive root with an appropriate property of the so-called characteristic equation of the corresponding homogeneous linear (autonomous) delay difference equation.
Automated stock trading is a burgeoning research area with important practical applica-
tions. The advent of the Internet has radically transformed the nature of stock trading in
most stock exchanges. Traders can now readily purchase and sell stock from a remote
site using Internet-based order submission protocols. Additionally, traders can moni-
tor the contents of buy and sell order books in real time using a Web-based interface.
