Over the last few decades the prevalence of studies about probiotics strains has dramatically grown in most regions of the world. The use of probiotics strains in animals production may reduce several problems caused by antibiotics therapy, growth promoter and problems from inadequate management. Probiotics are specific strains of microorganisms, which when served to human or animals in proper amount, have a beneficial effect, improving health or reducing risk of get sick. This book provides the maximum of information for all that need them trying with this to help many people at worldwide....
Over the last few decades the prevalence of studies about probiotics strains has dramatically grown in most regions of the world. Probiotics are specific strains of microorganisms, which when served to human or animals in proper amount, have a beneficial effect, improving health or reducing risk of getting sick and the probiotics are used in production of functional foods and pharmaceutical products.
Foreign direct investment may improve productivity through technology
transfer on the one hand, and it may also have other positive external effects through
corporate linkages (e.g. market access, or improved terms of financing) on the other
hand, thus promoting economic growth. These beneficial effects are not automatic,
though. Until the mid-nineties Hungary had played a leading role within the region
in attracting investments. After 1999, however, the country started accumulating
increasing competitive disadvantages as compared to its competitors.
Freezing is one of the oldest and most widely used methods of food preservation, which allows preservation of taste, texture, and nutritional value in foods better than any other method. The freezing process is a combination of the beneficial effects of low temperatures at which microorganisms cannot grow, chemical reaction are reduced and cellular metabolic reacions are delayed.
The book "Applied Fracture Mechanics" presents a collection of articles on application of fracture mechanics methods to materials science, medicine, and engineering. In thirteen chapters, a wide range of topics is discussed, including strength of biological tissues, safety of nuclear reactor components, fatigue effects in pipelines, environmental effects on fracture among others. In addition, the book presents mathematical and computational methods underlying the fracture mechanics applications, and also developments in statistical modeling of fatigue.
Caesar Kleberg created the Caesar Kleberg Foundation forWildlife Conservation in his will in 1946.
He never knew what would become of it or what direction it would take, but what he believed was
true, without question or discussion. His rationale for creating the Caesar Kleberg Foundation for
Wildlife Conservation is best described by these words in his LastWill and Testament:
“Because of the importance of wildlife and its beneficial effects on the health, habits, and character
of the American people.”...
Sales of herbal products have increased dramatically over the past five years. Unfortunately, the
knowledge base devoted to the adverse effects of these products has not grown in proportion to their
increased usage. Data of questionable accuracy, often designed to sell products rather than to provide
objective information, can be found in the print and electronic media, most notably on the Internet.
Even in medical journals, misleading information about the beneficial and adverse effects of herbs can
It is beneficial to decide on a target journal during the very early stages of writing an
article, rather than first preparing an article and then considering where to send it.
Analyse potential journals and choose one. Write your article with your target journal in
mind. This is useful because different journals have different perceptions of science as well
as differing opinions on how articles ought to be written. By writing directly for your
target journal, you will ensure the right type of approach and speed up your writing
process. If you wish to be even wiser, you may also...
The Internet has become one of most technological necessity tools in today’s workplace. With the broad scope of its usefulness and its ease of use, employees find the technology most beneficial to their daily work activities as well as their personal activities.
Probiotics may exert a multidirectional effects
affecting the gene expression in intestinal cells. A number of positive effects of
probiotics have been indicated, particularly their beneficial effect in the pathologic
conditions including antibiotic-associated traveler's diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS), lactose intolerance, dental caries, gastroduodenal ulcers due to Helicobacter
pylori, hepatic encephalopathy, intestinal motility disorders and neonatal necrotizing
In many parts of the world the primary source of animal protein for humans is finfish. The
intensive culture of finfish has grown significantly since the 1980s partly because of the
dramatic decline in the natural fish stocks and the increase in fish consumption by the
ever-increasing population. For example, the worldwide consumption of fish between
1990 and 1997 increased by 30% while the capture fisheries increased only by 9%.
A major disadvantage of the lead/acid battery is the decrease in voltage during operation which makes it unsuitable for systems sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Additives like BaSO4 or SrSO4, which are isomorphous to PbSO4, have been used to overcome this problem. Phosphoric acid and the various phosphates have long been used to improve the performance of the positive electrode of the battery. A beneficial effect of phosphoric acid is to inhibit the rate of the self-discharge reaction of the positive electrode in the lead/acid battery. ...
Principles of Dose Selection The desired goal of therapy with any drug is to maximize the likelihood of a beneficial effect while minimizing the risk of adverse effects. Previous experience with the drug, in controlled clinical trials or in postmarketing use, defines the relationships between dose (or plasma concentration) and these dual effects and provides a starting point for initiation of drug therapy.
Figure 5-1 illustrates the relationships among dose, plasma concentrations, efficacy, and adverse effects and carries with it several important implications:
