This book is an exploration of the evolutionary process of natural hybridization.
My motivation for writing this book comes from the view that crosses between
genetically divergent individuals have a major influence on the evolution of
some plant and animal species complexes. In particular, I want to examine the
role that natural hybridization has as a creative force in organismal evolution. I
realize that my emphasis on the "creative" aspect of natural hybridization could
lead some to conclude that I believe that this is the only possible outcome
from hybridization and gene exchange....
Knowing that the plant parameters can vary within their lower and upper bounds, this
parametric uncertainty is formulated as an additive perturbation in the transfer function
matrix. It is important to note that the controller be designed with respect to worst case
uncertainty for each λij. This can be achieved by performing an optimization procedure
given by (61) for 200 frequencies. Here an element by element uncertainty bound model is
used for the characterization of upper bound of the uncertainty matrix. Then wij , which
satisfies (62) for each λij is given in matrix form as,...
According to a recent view of culture as a dynamic process (Miller 1995; Shaw and Clarke 1998), cultural
differences often cause differences in consumer behavior within and across national borders. Referring to the
identification of consumer segments across countries, macro-level geographic, political, economic, and cultural
data have been typically used (e.g., Helsen et al. 1993; Kale 1995). In fact, to identify market segments, national
borders and the study of culture are appropriate as segmentation criteria when consumer behavior is "culture
When theaand bchains were separated from human
oxyhemoglobin (HbO2), each individual chain was oxidized
easily to the ferric form, their rates being almost the same
with a very strong acid-catalysis. In the HbO2tetramer, on
theother hand, bothchains become considerably resistant to
autoxidation over a wide range of pH values (pH 5±11).
