Computational Physics is now a multidisciplinary line of research. A long time
ago, it was not like that, computers were used by physicists only in order to solve
classical problems resistant to the analytical approach: One is able to model the
problem at hands through, say, a set of coupled differential equations, but the
analytical solution for these equations is not available. The solace is the numerical
solution, and the old branch of Computational Physics consists in providing fast
and precise numerical methods to be applied to these cases....
Interest in aesthetics in computer graphics has lately manifested itself in an area called non-
photorealistic rendering (NPR). Relaxing the constraints of photorealism can produce more
informative images. NPR uses artistic techniques to emphasize features, expose subtleties, and
omit distracting extraneous information. Graphics such as architectural drawings and medi-
cal illustrations are sometimes better expressed with sketches than with photorealistic images.
NPR provides ideas for artistic techniques to apply to visual features....
Nurses are assigned to respond to the CD calls and investigations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
After hours, calls are relayed to public health through our dispatch 911 service. (An updated contact
schedule for public health personnel is provided each Friday to the Sheriff’s office 911dispatch
office.) As we learned during the H1N1 pandemic of 2009/10, a large outbreak or public health
emergency would require far greater resources than this department has available. Federal dollars
were provided for the H1N1 response.
Psychology is the Science of Mental Life, both of its phenomena and of their conditions. The
phenomena are such things as we call feelings, desires, cognitions, reasonings, decisions, and the
like; and, superficially considered, their variety and complexity is such as to leave a chaotic
impression on the observer.
