Estimating the transport and fate of chemicals released into the environment is an
interesting and challenging task. The global environment is large on the chemical
transport and fate scale. This text applies the mathematics of diffusion, turbulent
diffusion, and dispersion to the atmosphere, lakes, rivers, groundwater, and oceans, as
well as transport between these media. The book follows a new educational paradigm
of textbooks, in that it is based on examples and case studies.
Semantic parsing is the task of mapping natural language sentences into complete formal meaning representations which a computer can execute for some domain-specific application. This is a challenging task and is critical for developing computing systems that can understand and process natural language input, for example, a computing system that answers natural language queries about a database, or a robot that takes commands in natural language.
Dialogue act classification is a central challenge for dialogue systems. Although the importance of emotion in human dialogue is widely recognized, most dialogue act classification models make limited or no use of affective channels in dialogue act classification. This paper presents a novel affect-enriched dialogue act classifier for task-oriented dialogue that models facial expressions of users, in particular, facial expressions related to confusion.
In this paper we give an overview of the Knowledge Base Population (KBP) track at the 2010 Text Analysis Conference. The main goal of KBP is to promote research in discovering facts about entities and augmenting a knowledge base (KB) with these facts. This is done through two tasks, Entity Linking – linking names in context to entities in the KB – and Slot Filling – adding information about an entity to the KB.

Natural language generation (NLG) systems are notoriously hard to evaluate. On the one hand, simply comparing system outputs to a gold standard is not appropriate because there can be multiple generated outputs that are equally good, and finding metrics that account for this variability and produce results consistent with human judgments and task performance measures is difficult (Belz and Gatt, 2008; Stent et al., 2005; Foster, 2008). On the other hand, lab-based evaluations with human subjects to assess each aspect of the system’s functionality are expensive and time-consuming. ...
The third PASCAL Recognizing Textual Entailment Challenge (RTE-3) contained an optional task that extended the main entailment task by requiring a system to make three-way entailment decisions (entails, contradicts, neither) and to justify its response. Contradiction was rare in the RTE-3 test set, occurring in only about 10% of the cases, and systems found accurately detecting it difficult.
Oil and gas are the most important non-renewable sources of energy. Exploring, producing and managing these resources in compliance with HSE standards are challenging tasks. New technologies, workflows and procedures have to be implemented. This book deals with some of these themes and describes some of the advanced technologies related to the oil and gas industry from HSE to field management issues. Some new technologies for geo-modeling, transient well testing and digital rock physics are also introduced. There are many more technical topics to be addressed in future books.
Speech-Language Pathologists (or Therapists) and regular classroom teachers are also frustrated in trying to teach the complexities of our English vocabulary system. There doesn't seem to be enough diversified material to help children and reinforce basic vocabulary skills. This book was created to help meet this challenging task.
Pre-intermediate students need
• engaging topics and stimulating texts.
• challenging tasks which help them read better.
Many students need to read in English for then work or
studies, or will want to read for pleasure about their hobbies and interests, Reading is also important in helping to build vocabulary and to consolidate grammar
Difficulty in accessing ground water without disturbing ground-water flow patterns,

The discovery of a new drug is a challenging task that includes (a) identifica-
tion of a biochemical target for certain diseases and (b) screening of a large
number of compounds from libraries of compounds arising from synthetic
chemistry, combinatorial chemistry, and natural product isolation for lead gen-
eration. The lead compound is then optimized based on biological activity,
selectivity, pharmacokinetic property, and metabolism.
(BQ) Ebook The power of less will show you how to break down any goal into manageable tasks; Focus on only a few tasks at a time; create new and productive habits; hone your focus; increase your efficiency. It demonstrates how to streamline your life by identifying the essential and eliminating the unnecessary-freeing you from everyday clutter and allowing you to focus on accomplishing the goals that can change your life for the better.
On a warm autumn day in 1962, a young chief executive stood before a large assembly and introduced a long-term, daring mission for his enterprise. It was both terrifying and inspiring. To many, successfully completing the mission seemed an impossible task..Leveraging Technology to Execute Winning Strategies
As an independent professional, a self employed freelancer or a small business owner one of the most challenging tasks is marketing. You know how to do what it is you do really well, you know you can offer value to people, you just don’t know how to locate people (prospects) and convince them to use your services or products (become customers).
he characterization of individual molecules has been a scientifically attractive and challenging task for decades, and remains so today. New technological developments have facilitated great progress in our understanding of the structure and behavior of single atoms and molecules in various environments.
The head and neck is a region of considerable anatomical and functional complexity,
making the accurate staging of a head and neck neoplasm a challenging task. The clinician
often detects pathology, but may not appreciate, based on the physical examination, the
entire submucosal tumor extension, nor the possible regional and distant disease spread.
The introduction of CT and MRI has revolutionized head and neck radiology. Current
radiological modalities provide a reliable visualization of the head and neck structures to
an unprecedented level of detail.
The Panel on Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence was established in early 1992 by the Naval

Around the world, many fisheries are shared fisheries in the sense that a common fish stock is accessed by both
commercial and non-commercial fishers. Non-commercial fishers can include recreational fishers, or customary fishers,
or both. A prevalent problem in these fisheries is competition between commercial and non-commercial fishers for
access to a resource that is subject to increasing utilisation pressure.
