Reusing domestic wastewater for irrigation is a common practice in peri-urban areas in Vietnam. This study investigates the characteristic of domestic wastewater in Hanoi City in terms of nutritive value and potential risk in using for agriculture. The wastewater samples were collected in four main drainage rivers of the City including Lu, Set, Kim Nguu, and To Lich River during March to May 2010. We found that the wastewater of Hanoi City
WAGE RETURNS FOR POST -SECONDARY EDUCATION: A COMPARISON FOR SELECTED PROGRAMS BY LEVELS OF EDUCATION AND INDUSTRY TYPE The potential effects of school choice programs depend critically on what
characteristics parents value in schools. Hanushek, for example, notes that parents might
not choose effective schools over others that are less effective but offer pleasant
surroundings, athletic facilities, [and] cultural advantages, (1981, p. 34). To the extent that
parents choose productive schools, market discipline can induce greater productivity from
school administrators and teachers.
This paper considers a trapped characteristic initial value problem for the spherically symmetric Einstein-Maxwell-scalar field equations. For an open set of initial data whose closure contains in particular Reissner-Nordstr¨m data, o the future boundary of the maximal domain of development is found to be a light-like surface along which the curvature blows up, and yet the metric can be continuously extended beyond it. This result is related to the strong cosmic censorship conjecture of Roger Penrose.
Rather than scan every byte of every file, the engine and pattern file work together to
identify not only tell-tale characteristics of the virus code, but the precise location within
a file where a virus would hide. If Worry-Free Business Security detects a virus, it can
remove it and restore the integrity of the file. The scan engine receives incrementally
updated pattern files (to reduce bandwidth) from Trend Micro.
The scan engine is able to decrypt all major encryption formats (including MIME and
This paper present an overview of some emerging trends in the application of NLP in the domain of the so-called Digital Humanities and discusses the role and nature of metadata, the annotation layer that is so characteristic of documents that play a role in the scholarly practises of the humanities. It is explained how metadata are the key to the added value of techniques such as text and link mining, and an outline is given of what measures could be taken to increase the chances for a bright future for the old ties between NLP and the humanities. There...
Chapter 7 focuses on stock valuation. Chapter 7 explains the characteristics of stock that distinguish it from debt and the chapter describes how companies issue stock to investors. You’ll have another chance to practice time-value-of-money techniques as the chapter illustrates how to value stocks by discounting either the dividends that stockholders receive or the free cash flows that the firm generates over time.
Characteristics of IREDs
Measurement of Power Output
It is standard industry practice to characterize the output of IREDs in terms of power output. Since the amount of light an IRED generates depends on the value of the forward drive current (IF), the power output is always stated for a given value of current. Also, the ambient temperature must be specified inasmuch as the radiant power decreases with increasing temperature, power decreases with increasing temperature, typically -0.9%/°C. The following two methods are used to measure light power output. front of the IRED.
The information used for the extraction of terms can be considered as rather 'internal', i.e. coming from the candidate string itself. This paper presents the incorporation of 'external' information derived from the context of the candidate string. It is embedded to the C-value approach for automatic term recognition (ATR), in the form of weights constructed from statistical characteristics of the context words of the candidate string.
Learning objectives of this chapter include: Understand why shaping culture is a critical function of leadership; recognize the characteristics of an adaptive, as opposed to an unadaptive, culture; understand and apply how leaders shape culture and values through ceremonies, stories, symbols, language, selection and socialization, and daily actions;…
Personalized cancer medicine is defined as medical care based on the
particular biological characteristics of the disease process in individual
patients. By using genomics and proteomics, individuals can
be classified into subpopulations based on their susceptibility to a particular
disease or response to a specific treatment. They may then be given preventive
or therapeutic interventions that will be most effective given their
When you have completed this chapter, you will be able to: List the characteristics of the F distribution and locate values in an F table, perform a test of hypothesis to determine whether the variances of two populations are equal, describe the ANOVA approach for testing differences in sample means,...
This paper examines episodes of banking sector distress for a large sample of countries,
highlighting the experience of Japan. We estimate a model that links the onset of banking
problems to a set of macroeconomic variables and institutional characteristics. The model
predicts a high probability of banking sector distress in Japan in the early 1990s, matching actual
developments closely, and suggests that the Japanese episode fits a well-established pattern
characterizing banking sector problems elsewhere.
The mushroom is the fruiting body of the macrofungi. Approximately 14,000 described species of
fungi produce fruiting bodies that are large enough to be considered mushrooms using our definition,
which states that “the mushroom is a macrofungus with a distinctive fruiting body that can be either
epigeous (aboveground) or hypogeous (underground) and large enough to be seen with the naked
eye and to be picked by hand.” According to this definition, in contrast to other definitions,
mushrooms can be Ascomycetes, grow underground, have a nonfleshy texture, and need not be
Cognitive maps have emerged as an important tool in modeling and decision making.
In a nutshell they are signed di-graphs that capture the cause/effect relationships that
subject matter experts believe exist in a problem space under consideration. Each node in
the map represents some variable concept.
This title presents the general principles of instrumentation processes. It explains the theoretical analysis of physical phenomena used by standard sensors and transducers to transform a physical value into an electrical signal. The pre-processing of these signals through electronic circuits – amplification, signal filtering and analog-to-digital conversion – is then detailed, in order to provide useful basic information.
Attention is then given to general complex systems.
The second aim of this thesis is to investigate whether Thai mutual fund performance
can be explained by any of its characteristics. The study examines statistic and economic
importance of fund characteristics to its performance. In the literature, evidence is sparse and
mixed on developed markets, let alone that on emerging markets. Rather than focusing on
one particular characteristic, this study draws on the evidence from five important
characteristics in the literature, which offer theoretical and empirical support.
MARKETING HIGHER EDUCATION: APPLYING A CONSUMPTION VALUE MODEL TO COLLEGE CHOICE Chapter One develops this idea and implements tests of the hypothesis that school
effectiveness is an important determinant of residential choices among local-monopoly
school districts. I model a Tiebout-style housing market in which house prices ration
access to desirable schools, which may be desirable either because they are particularly
effective or because they enroll a desirable set of students.
Quang Ninh Province, situated in Northeast coast of Vietnam, has about 250km of shoreline, many estuaries, and tidal flats and over 2000 islands. The diversified nature, natural landscapes and ecosystems grant the province a great potential for tourism and specially seafood products. Peanut-worms (Sipunculus nudus) are exploited and used as popular seafood in international and domestic markets as special food of high nutritional and pharmaceutical value.
To better understand the international perspective of
public policies for the elderly, in line with the parameters
that serve as tendencies for national policies, one must
contextualize international health conferences that had
health promotion as their central topic. Since the
Declaration of Alma-Ata, in 1978(5), it has been noted
that measures and characteristics of health promotion
imply a search for healthier life styles and active aging.
Health promotion is seen as a process of community
qualification, aiming to improve life and health conditions.
We devise a new criterion for linear independence over function fields. Using this tool in the setting of dual t-motives, we find that all algebraic relations among special values of the geometric Γ-function over Fq [T ] are explained by the standard functional equations.
