Polysaccharide fractions isolated from Lentinula edodes fruitbodies
and mycelium demonstrate strong immunomodulating,
antioxidant and anticancer activity. We hypothesized, that
polysaccharide fractions enriched in selenium would possess
higher biological activity than non-enriched fractions, currently
used to treat cancer. The first goal of this study was to isolate
selenium (Se)-enriched polysaccharide fractions of different
molecular weight from L. edodes mycelium cultivated under the
submerged conditions in Se-enriched medium, and to investigate
their monosaccharide composition....
Is a branch of polymer science dealing with analysis and characterisation of polymers. üThe complication of macromolecular chains, the dispersion in molecular weight, tacticity, crystallinity, orientation, composition of polymers etc. and complex morphological systems ⇒ analysis of polymer ≠ the small organic materials ⇒ Focus on viscoelastic properties, dynamic mechanical testing.
In this chapter attention is focused on a representative volume of the reactor. This
volume contains one single fluid phase only. It is uniform in composition and
temperature. If the reactor is spatially uniform, the representative volume is the
total volume; if not, the representative volume is limited to a differential element
— a “point”.
This book has two parts. The first part talks about general characteristics of the World Trade Organisation
(WTO) as well as common steps that have to be taken during the accession process. Theoretical studies
related to the WTO activities are also presented. Finally, Part I of this book discusses one of the most
useful methods of examining economic consequences of being WTO member, namely Computable
General Equilibrium (CGE) Models. Part II continues analysis and shows application of CGE model to a
specific case study.

Fresh leaves of Litsea glutinosa (Lour.) C. B. Rob. from Ha Tinh were steam distilled to produce an oil in 0.15% yield. The essential oil was analysis by a combination of capillary GC and GC/MS. Seventy eight compounds were detected in the oil, of which more than 95.18% were terpenoids. The major components were (E)-β-ocimene (13.35%), β-caryophyllene (27.20%) and bicyclogermacrene (18.16%).
Stability is a basic concern in both design and analysis of load-carrying systems and
constitutes a major topic in the field of engineering science and mechanics. Since
structural instability may lead to catastrophic failure of engineering structures,
stability requirements must be satisfied besides requirements related to material
failure. Knowledge on stability is of great importance in the areas of Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering; and all these disciplines have
their own literature related to the subject....
In this study, the air-plasma generated by radio-frequency was used to treat bamboo fiber. The treatment parameters were studied to find the suitable condition. The testing on tensile strength, tensile modulus, module Weibull and elongation to break of the fiber, the measurement of contact angles and the SEM analysis showed that at the high frequency of 12 kHz, power 50 W and treatment time of 5 minutes, after air-plasma treatment the tensile strength and tensile modulus of bamboo fiber increased more than double (101.1% and 101.
A new approach of predicting structural classes of protein
domain sequences is presented in this paper. Besides the
amino acid composition, the composition of several
dipeptides, tripeptides, tetrapeptides, pentapeptides and
hexapeptides are taken into account based on the step-wise discriminant analysis. The result of jackknife test
shows that this new approach can lead to higher pre-dictive sensitivityand specificityfor reduced sequence
This paper deals with the analysis of non-linaer multilayered reinforced composite plates with simply supported along its four edges by Bubnov - Galerkin and Finite Element Methods. Numerical results are presented for illustrating theoretical analysis of reinforced and unreinforced laminated composite plates. Keywords: Stiffened laminated composite plate, multilayered reinforced composite plates
This paper describes the main features of our tool called “Legal Taxonomy Syllabus”. The system is an ontology based tool designed to annotate and recover multi-lingua legal information and build conceptual dictionaries on European Directives. Vogel, 2004) and ontologies engineering (Klein, 2001), are the following ones: 1) Terms and concepts must be distinguished; for this purpose, we use lightweight ontologies, i.e. simple taxonomic structures of primitive or composite terms together with associated definitions. ...
This paper describes a compositional semantics for temporal expressions as part of the meaning representation language (MRL) of the JANUS system, a natural language understanding and generation system under joint development by BBN Laboratoires and the Information Sciences Institute. 1 The analysis is based on a higher order intansional logic described in detail in Hinrichs, Ayuso and Scha (1987). Temporal expressions of English are translated into this language as quantifiers over times which bind temporal indices on predicates.
Food analysis is the discipline dealing with the development, application and
study of analytical procedures for characterizing the properties of foods and their
constituents. These analytical procedures are used to provide information about a wide
variety of different characteristics of foods, including their composition, structure,
physicochemical properties and sensory attributes.
In another recent study by our group (Gürlek et al. 2009) similar
salivary ICTP levels were detected in smoker, non-smoker and ex-smoker patient groups
with similar clinical periodontal findings. Smoking status was confirmed by salivary
cotinine analysis but there was no clinically healthy control group in that study and the
number of teeth present, average probing depths and attachment levels were all similar in
the three study groups. There were no significant differences in saliva ICTP concentrations
between the smoker and non-smoker patient groups.

applications suitable for them.
The production process is shown by the method of casting, rolling process
including monitoring throughout the process. Innovative testing procedures described in
electrochemistry, ultrasonic pulse velocity, fracture toughness in the macro-micro
mechanical behavior and more. The coordination between the components, laminas and
building parts are checked by different principles....
With respect to the sampling of tomato it occurred at the beginning, on the highest peak and
at the end of the production stage of tomato. For each sampling unit a zigzag path by the
crop was followed, harvesting a tomato every three places along the zig-zag, and then based
on a quartering system, obtaining a sample of 1 kg per plot.
The amount of energy that
people used in the past two decades is equivalent to the total amount of energy in
the past. This huge increase of energy use has been made possible by extending
depletion of fossil reserves and is clearly unsustainable. Does it mean that once the
reserves are exhausted the amount of energy available to humans would be similar
before the era of fossil fuels? Not necessarily. Currently, the total energy used by mankind
