This is a thorough revision of the definitive, classic text for any level course on refrigeration, refrigeration and air conditioning, and environmental control in buildings. It is an equipment-oriented textbook that applies theoretical results of engineering theories to refrigeration and air conditioning engineering problems. This enables the student to understand both common and uncommon problems in designing, selecting and applying air conditioning and refrigeration components and systems.
The if-clause usually comes first, but it can come after the main clause. And a comma between the clauses is more likely when the if-clause comes first.
Ex: If I hear any news, I’ll tell you. / I’ll tell you if I hear any news.
In the if-clause of the first conditional, we can use:
The present continuous to talk about an action going on now
Ex: If they’re having a party, it’ll be noisy. (Now, they may be having a party or not.)
"Under the right conditions and applications, evaporative air-conditioning (EAC) technologies can provide excellent cooling and ventilation with minimal energy consumption." Evaporative air-conditioning technologies are being used increasingly in residential and commercial applications worldwide. EAC technologies, which rely on water as a coolant rather than on chemical refrigerants, are economical to produce and use and have important environmental benefits.
Heating ventilating and air conditioning is the technology of indoor and vehicular environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality. HVAC system design is a subdiscipline of mechanical engineering, based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. Refrigeration is sometimes added to the field's abbreviation as HVAC&R or HVACR, or ventilating is dropped as in HACR (such as the designation of HACR-rated circuit breakers).
How Direct Expansion Air-Conditioning Achieves Performance Goals For most of the A / C market, refrigeration-based ( DX ) cooling is the standard, and provides a point of comparison for new technologies. To describe the benefits and improvements of DEVap A / C technology, we must discuss standard A / C. Standard A / C reacts to SHR by cooling the air sensibly and, if dehumidification is required, by cooling the air below the dew point.

Combat sports require a high degree of fitness, strength, power and flexibility from its participants. Muscular endurance and core strength are also equally important. Training for combat sports requires that different fitness components be trained on different days so that all aspects of conditioning can be addressed.

This paper introduces the notion of a stability condition on a triangulated category. The motivation comes from the study of Dirichlet branes in string theory, and especially from M.R. Douglas’s work on Π-stability. From a mathematical point of view, the most interesting feature of the definition is that the set of stability conditions Stab(D) on a fixed category D has a natural topology, thus defining a new invariant of triangulated categories.
Conditional Random Fields (CRFs) have been applied with considerable success to a number of natural language processing tasks. However, these tasks have mostly involved very small label sets. When deployed on tasks with larger label sets, the requirements for computational resources mean that training becomes intractable. This paper describes a method for training CRFs on such tasks, using error correcting output codes (ECOC). A number of CRFs are independently trained on the separate binary labelling tasks of distinguishing between a subset of the labels and its complement. ...
Monthly rainfall data given by surface meteorological observations during the period 1961-2007 in Central Vietnam is used to calculate drought indices. Results show that drought conditions slightly increase in North Central Vietnam but decrease in South Central and Highland Central Vietnam. Significant drought periods often occur from January to March. The percentage of dry years during the period 1961-2007 is larger than that in the reference period of 1961-1990 in North Central while smaller in South Central and almost similar to that in Highland Central Vietnam.
This paper presents a joint optimization method of a two-step conditional random field (CRF) model for machine transliteration and a fast decoding algorithm for the proposed method. Our method lies in the category of direct orthographical mapping (DOM) between two languages without using any intermediate phonemic mapping. In the two-step CRF model, the first CRF segments an input word into chunks and the second one converts each chunk into one unit in the target language. In this paper, we propose a method to jointly optimize the two-step CRFs and also a fast algorithm to realize it. ...
Recent work on Conditional Random Fields (CRFs) has demonstrated the need for regularisation to counter the tendency of these models to overfit. The standard approach to regularising CRFs involves a prior distribution over the model parameters, typically requiring search over a hyperparameter space. In this paper we address the overfitting problem from a different perspective, by factoring the CRF distribution into a weighted product of individual “expert” CRF distributions. We call this model a logarithmic opinion pool (LOP) of CRFs (LOP-CRFs).
This paper describes discriminative language modeling for a large vocabulary speech recognition task. We contrast two parameter estimation methods: the perceptron algorithm, and a method based on conditional random fields (CRFs). The models are encoded as deterministic weighted finite state automata, and are applied by intersecting the automata with word-lattices that are the output from a baseline recognizer. The perceptron algorithm has the benefit of automatically selecting a relatively small feature set in just a couple of passes over the training data. ...
The detection of prosodic characteristics is an important aspect of both speech synthesis and speech recognition. Correct placement of pitch accents aids in more natural sounding speech, while automatic detection of accents can contribute to better wordlevel recognition and better textual understanding. In this paper we investigate probabilistic, contextual, and phonological factors that influence pitch accent placement in natural, conversational speech in a sequence labeling setting.
