Decision support systems (DSS) have evolved over the past four decades from
theoretical concepts into real world computerized applications. DSS architecture contains
three key components: a knowledge base, a computerized model, and a user interface. DSS
simulate cognitive decision-making functions of humans based on artificial intelligence
methodologies (including expert systems, data mining, machine learning, connectionism,
logistical reasoning, etc.) in order to perform decision support functions.

Pacing through second decade of the 21th century, more computer users are widely adopting technology-based tools and information-enriched databases to focus on supporting managerial decision making, reducing preventable faults and improving outcome forecasting. The goal of decision support systems (DSS) is to develop and deploy information technology-based systems in supporting efficient practice in multidiscipline domains. This book aims to portray a pragmatic perspective of applying DSS in the 21th century.
This book has been made possible by a sea of efforts. Collating this book was a labour of love. I share the
topic of Decision-making support systems with the reader with a sense of zeal and oceans of enthusiasm.
