Statistical methods require very large corpus with high quality. But building large and faultless annotated corpus is a very difficult job. This paper proposes an efficient m e t h o d to construct part-of-speech tagged corpus. A rulebased error correction m e t h o d is proposed to find and correct errors semi-automatically by user-defined rules. We also make use of user's correction log to reflect feedback. Experiments were carried out to show the efficiency of error correction process of this workbench. The result shows that about 63.2 % of tagging errors can be corrected. ...
The paper begins by defining a class of distributed memory machines which have useful properties as retrieval and filtering devices. These memory mechanisms store large numbers of associations on a single composite vector. They provide a natural format for encoding the syntactic and semantic constraints associated with linguistic elements. A computational architecture for parsing natural language is proposed which utillses the retrieval and associative features of these devices.
This paper proposes how to automatically identify Korean comparative sentences from text documents. This paper first investigates many comparative sentences referring to previous studies and then defines a set of comparative keywords from them. A sentence which contains one or more elements of the keyword set is called a comparative-sentence candidate. Finally, we use machine learning techniques to eliminate non-comparative sentences from the candidates. As a result, we achieved significant performance, an F1-score of 88.54%, in our experiments using various web documents. ...
Syntax-based statistical machine translation (MT) aims at applying statistical models to structured data. In this paper, we present a syntax-based statistical machine translation system based on a probabilistic synchronous dependency insertion grammar. Synchronous dependency insertion grammars are a version of synchronous grammars defined on dependency trees. We first introduce our approach to inducing such a grammar from parallel corpora.
The following proposal is for a Japanese sentence analysis method to be used in a Japanese book reading machine.
