Subsequently, the 1996 Nepal Family Health Survey, the 2001 Nepal Demographic and Health
Survey and the 2006 Nepal Demographic and Health surveys were conducted. This trend report
discusses key findings from these three DHS surveys in Nepal. All three Nepal DHS surveys sampled
nationally representative populations, were conducted by the same organization (New ERA Ltd.), and
managed by the same core group of survey personnel.
This study updates the analyses of the previous RAND Corporation study Working Around the Military: Challenges to Military Spouse Employment and Education (Harrell et al., 2004), and revisits the gaps in employment and earnings between military and civilian spouses as well as the demographic and contextual differences that may be associated with those gaps.
Essays on Economics of Education While it is possible that
parents use the demographic data in this way, it seems more likely that home buyers prefer
wealthier neighborhoods, even conditional on average student performance (Downes and
The NCRP has long mcog&ed the need for a clear assessment of the
magnitude of doses from various souroes of radiation to which the
population of the U.S. is ocpo9ed. In anticipation of the need to gather
data for input into this process five as&sament committees, each
adhing a different source category, wem established, first in 1971
and then reestablished in 1986. NCRP reports assessing exposum

The past year has been one of great turmoil, with the global financial markets on the brink of collapse
and organizations struggling amid a worldwide recession, regardless of industry. Among the many effects
of this crisis, management and boards of directors are looking more closely than ever at risk, finance,
governance and operations to ensure that all proper controls are in place and functioning properly, that their
IT systems and data are secure, and that they are leveraging working capital to the greatest extent possible.
Nepal has a long history of demographic data collection with population censuses being carried out
since 1911 at decennial intervals. It was only after the 1952/54 census that more detailed information
was collected on the size and structure of the population. The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) was
established in 1958 under the Statistics Act, 2015 BS as the central agency for the collection,
consolidation, processing, analysis, publication and dissemination of statistics (www.cbs.gov.np).
I show that, just as investment bankers are key drivers of financial markets,
shocks in financial markets have important and lasting effects on the careers
of investment bankers. Specifically, using data from a 1996 and 1998 survey
of several thousand Stanford MBAs, I find that stock market conditions while
MBA students are in school have a large effect on whether they go directly into
investment banking upon graduation. This effect of themarkets on initialMBA
placement turns out to be a lasting determinant of career choice and earnings....
When the walk-through is complete, the employer should
organize and analyze the data so that it may be efficiently used in
determining the proper types of PPE required at the worksite. The
employer should become aware of the different types of PPE
available and the levels of protection offered. It is definitely a good
idea to select PPE that will provide a level of protection greater than
the minimum required to protect employees from hazards.
A summary of the different styles of hedge funds and
the proportion of the market they occupy is shown in Table
4, based on Hedge Fund Industry Research data. An
indication of the broad activity involved in the style is
shown on the right hand side. Most of these strategies are
long-short in nature: all of the equity hedge (e.g. long a
stock and long a put to hedge its fall); most of event driven
(e.g. buy the target M&A company and sell the buyer); all of
relative value arbitrage (e.g. buy the London listing and sell
Panelists from the Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction
reviewed the literature for potential toxicities of HU. They concluded that HU does not
cause a growth delay in children 5-15 years old . There were no data on the effects on
subsequent generations following exposure of developing germ cells to HU in utero.
Some evidence supported impaired spermatogenesis with use of HU. Although we
identified six patients taking HU who developed leukemia, the evidence did not support
These are only some of the outcomes that will be achieved through the GHI. For a complete list of GHI targets and
outcomes, including linkages to current strategies, see Annex A.
Through GHI, the U.S. seeks to align goals and targets for our investments with partner country needs, plans and pri-
orities. These goals and targets build upon our existing health programs as we work with countries to achieve signifi-
cant and sustainable gains in health.
In 2003/04 a second Nepal Living Standards Survey (NLSS II) was conducted, which helped track
changes in the living standards of the Nepalese population over the eight years since 1995/96.
However, to fulfill the demand for national and regional level socio-economic and demographic data,
the GoN carried out several national demographic and health surveys to supplement and complement
In the NDHS surveys, ‘marriage’ is defined as a stable cohabitation between a man and a woman
irrespective of whether or not any validating legal, religious or customary ceremonies had been
performed. However, informal unions are relatively uncommon in Nepal. Figure 5.1 shows the
percentage of women and men who have never married in 1996, 2001 and 2006 by five-year age
cohorts. The data show a consistent decline in the proportions never-married as age increases.
Because the ART industry is largely unregulated, we have very little data on who uses these
technologies. Until 2003, the only national data collected was through the Fertility Clinic
Success Rate and Certification Act of 1992, which requires that fertility clinics report the number
of pregnancies and live births from ART, which the Act defines narrowly as “fertility treatments
in which both eggs and sperm are handled in the laboratory” (e.g.
Multiple individual characteristics are associated with positive reproductive health behaviors.
Demographic characteristics, including gender, race/ethnicity, and age are all important, with
males more likely than females to initiate sexual intercourse at an early age and to exhibit greater
levels of sexual activity; racial and ethnic minorities more likely to engage in behaviors related
to early pregnancy, childbearing and STIs, and older teens more likely be sexually experienced
but also more likely to use contraception (Abma & Sonenstein, 2001; Miller, Norton et al.
The National Institute on Aging’s “Assets and Health Dynamics Among the Oldest-Old
(AHEAD) Survey” from 1993 is used to provide demographic and housing preference
information (e.g., assisted living, shared housing, conventional housing) on seniors over
70 years of age.
The ready availability of carbon through the exploitation of hydrocarbon oil reserves over the
past century has lead to a vast amount of organic compounds being introduced into the
environment either through the use of oil in fuels or the development and production of other
chemical products by industry. Literally tens of thousands of synthetic organic chemicals have
been and continue to be developed. Many organic chemicals are known to have potential
human health impacts and drinking-water quality standard listings developed.
In order to provide comparable estimates of exposure to outdoor air
pollution for all 14 WHO regions, models developed by the World Bank
were used to estimate concentrations of inhalable particles (PM10) (Pandey
et al., 2004). Specifically, economic, meteorologic, and demographic data
and available PM measurements in 304 cities were used to estimate PM10
levels in all 3211 cities worldwide with populations greater than 100,000 and
When failures occur, the fail over process moves processing performed by the failed
component to the backup component. This process remasters systemwide resources,
recovers partial or failed transactions, and restores the system to normal, preferably
within a matter of microseconds. The more transparent that fail over is to users, the
higher the availability of the system.

Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI), chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the U.S.
House of Representatives, requested by letter that the Center for Data Analysis (CDA) undertake
an economic analysis of the House Budget Resolution for federal fiscal year 2012 through 2021.
The Chairman specifically asked the CDA to perform conventional and dynamic budget analysis,
or analysis that is based on largely “static” budget models and on economic models with
dynamic economic properties.
