  • ‘Design’ is one of those words that means all things to all people. Every manufactured thing, from the most lyrical of ladies’ hats to the greasiest of gearboxes, qualifies, in some sense or other, as a design. It can mean yet more. Nature, to some is Divine Design; to others it is design by Natural Selection, the ultimate genetic algorithm. The reader will agree that it is necessary to narrow the field, at least a little. This book is about

  • Nanotechnology is slowly and steadily entering more and more aspects of our life. It is becoming a base for developing new materials as well as a base for developing novel methods of computing. As natural computing is concerned with information processing taking place in or inspired by nature, the ideas coming from basic interactions between atoms and molecules naturally become part of these novel ways of computing.

  • Normally the frequency divider designed by Boole algebra and to design a frequency divider with any divide factor, we have to repeat all over again every design step as the same. So to avoid of wasting time and money, instead of using traditional Boole algebra in digital technical we replace it by mathematical models in high algebra. And because of that we can design frequency dividers use computer. 1. Modeling of function circuit

  • This paper reports experimental results of a radar system design. In the radar transmitter, a 13-bit Barker code with bit duration 3.24 µs and various other codes are generated by the microcontroller PIC16F877A. This code is then used to modulate IF 10.3 MHz to become BPSK signal. A stable local oscillator is also designed by PLL, VCO, and PIC16F877A. The operation frequency range of the oscillator is from 800 MHz to 900

  • This paper describes a general approach to the design of natural language interfaces that has evolved during the development of DATALOG, an English database query system based on Cascaded ATN grammar. By providing separate representation schemes for linguistic knowledge, general world knowledge, and application domain knowledge, DATALOG achieves a high degree of portability and extendability.

  • From the arid deserts of Tucson, Arizona to the icy forests of Poori, Finland to the tropical beaches of New South Wales, Australia to the urban jungle of downtown Manhattan, critics Alanna Stang and Christopher Hawthorne have traveled to the farthest reaches of the globe to find all that is new in the design of sustainable, or "green," homes. The result: more than thirty-five residences in fifteen countries -- and nearly every conceivable natural environment -- designed by a combination of star architects and heretofore unknown practitioners....

  • Architecture is those attributes visible to the programmer: Instruction set, number of bits used for data representation, I/O mechanisms, addressing techniques. e.g. Is there a multiply instruction? Organization is how features are implemented Control signals, interfaces, memory technology. e.g. Is there a hardware multiply unit or is it done by repeated addition?

  • With growth and development rapidly in Vietnam, is a danger of overuse and poor management of natural resources, thus affecting sustainable development. Level of understanding, knowledge and use of the principles of natural resources management (NRE) is limited to Vietnam's agriculture. Design results project is to start with the concept of resource management is used in many organizations in Vietnam (Universities, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and system extensions) and enhanced to provide the set of policy knowledge, and advice to farmers in region.

  • The contributions in this book present an overview of utting edge research on natural gas which is a vital component of world’s supply of energy. Natural gas is combustible mixture of hydrocarbon gases, primarily methane but also heavier gaseous hydrocarbons such as ethane, propane and butane. Unlike other fossil fuels, natural gas is clean burning and emits lower levels of potentially harmful by-products into the air. Therefore, it is considered as one of the cleanest, safest, and most useful of all energy sources applied in variety of residential, commercial and industrial fields....

  • A context-sensitive approach to sustainable planning and development helps to protect public health, safety, andwelfare. By avoiding inherent site problems, or constraints, and by capitalizing on inherent site assets, or opportunities, site planners can limit long-term maintenance costs and, more important, reduce the risks to life and property from natural hazards. The careful analysis of sites—and the site’s context—can lead to better development proposals and, ultimately, to higher-quality built environments. Qualified site planners and designers are vital to this process.

  • Behind every wood solution from Steelcase, is a deep commitment to understanding our customers’ needs. We observe, we question, we listen and we learn about how people work. Why are we so inquisitive? Because this knowledge enables us to design office solutions that create a better work experience. We’ll even tailor a solution if one of our standard products isn’t exactly what you desire. The result is beautiful wood solutions that can help to attract and retain valuable knowledge workers and help them to be more effective and efficient.

  • The research, simulation and design dual band antenna which operates at 900MHz and 2.45GHz are conducted. FR4-epoxy substrate is chosen with thickness h = 1.5mm, εr = 4.4. Dual band can be achieved by using different methods of impedance’s matching for single antenna which is originally designed at 900MHz. Some dual band RFID structures are discussed in this paper.

  • Accounting standards around the world have evolved over centuries of business and capital market development. In this process, accounting standards historically were designed to meet the needs of each nation’s capital markets. Those stan- dards that were found to work well in the legal, cultural, political and economic context of each nation became the “generally accepted accounting principles,” or GAAP, for that particular jurisdiction. Naturally, different norms in each nation led to different GAAPs in each nation.

  • Borealis is a second-generation distributed stream processing engine that is being developed at Brandeis University, Brown University, and MIT. Borealis inherits core stream processing functionality from Aurora [14] and distribution functionality from Medusa [51]. Borealis modifies and extends both systems in non-trivial and critical ways to provide advanced capabilities that are commonly required by newly-emerging stream processing applications. In this paper, we outline the basic design and functionality of Borealis. Through sample real-world applications, we motivate the need for...

  • In writing a volume of this kind, one becomes keenly aware that science is indeed a community of scholars. We stand on the shoulders of giants, and mistake the broadened vision for our own. In this instance the giants are Kurt Lewin, George Herbert Mead, Sigmund Freud, William I. and Dorothy S. Thomas, Edward C. Tolman, Lev Vygotsky, Kurt Goldstein, Otto Rank, Jean Piaget, and Ronald A. Fisher. ·From these I learned mainly by reading. There are others who struggled to teach me, often against resistance. Chief among them were my first teachers in psychology, Frank S. Freeman, Robert M.

This antenna can work in GSM/UMTS bands by generating two resonant modes of 900 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies. Antenna is printed on FR4 substrate with size of 58 mm x 80 mm, thickness of 1.6 mm and relative permittivity of 4.4. The propose antenna is experimentally studied. Keywords: Antenna, dual-band, monopole, microstrip antenna.
