In our study, we aimed to determine the validity of diagnostic methods for tuberculosis. Eighty-one
people suspected to have tuberculosis were included in the study. The validity of the applied methods
for the diagnosis of tuberculosis tuberculin skin test (TST), sputum smear, and used in diagnostic chest
X-ray findings (CXR), clinical features and history were evaluated as culture was considered the
reference test. Included in the study of 81 people (54 males 27 females) mean age was determined as
45.04 ± 18.69.

The validity of a specific method should be demonstrated in laboratory experiments using
samples or standards that are similar to unknown samples analyzed routinely. The
preparation and execution should follow a validation protocol, preferably written in a stepby-
step instruction format. This proposed procedure assumes that the instrument has been
selected and the method has been developed.
The study of the pathogenesis of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli
(STEC) infections encompasses many different disciplines, including clinical
microbiology, diagnostics, animal ecology, and food safety, as well as the
cellular microbiology of both bacterial pathogenesis and the mechanisms of
toxin action. E. coli: Shiga Toxin Methods and Protocols aims to bring
together a number of experts from each of these varied fields in order to outline
some of the basic protocols for the diagnosis and study of STEC pathogenesis.
Perhaps even more important than barriers of physical access and eligibility are
barriers of affordability. These issues seem to be particularly important in Latin
America and the Caribbean, where 40 percent of non-account-holders report that
formal accounts are too expensive. Worldwide, reducing withdrawal charges and
balance fees could make formal accounts more attractive to more than 500 million
adults who are without one. Again, these statements are meant to be indicative,
not causal, and further analysis is required.
This book presents a comprehensive view of veterinary vaccines and
diagnostics~past, present, and future. The authors were all participants
in the First International Veterinary Vaccines and Diagnostics
Conference (IVVDC) held during the summer of 1997 at the Monona
Terrace Convention Center, Madison, Wisconsin, USA,
Each session had co-chairs who selected four to six speakers. The
book follows the general organization of the conference.
(BQ) Part 2 book "Concise book of medical laboratory technology - Methods and interpretations" presents the following contents: Enzymology, blood gases and electrolytes, diagnostic immunology, the endocrine system, microbiology and bacteriology,...
(BQ) Part 1 book "Molecular diagnostics for dermatology" presents the following contents: Introduction, basics of nucleic acids and molecular biology, molecular methods; risk assessment, diagnosis, and prognosis - using molecular tools to diagnose melanoma, predict its behavior and evaluate for inheritable forms,...
This chapter presents the use of charts to present data and the initial exploration of data using tools like cross-tabulation. After reading this chapter, you should understand: That exploratory data analysis techniques provide insights and data diagnostics by emphasizing visual representations of the data; how cross-tabulation is used to examine relationships involving categorical variables, serves as a framework for later statistical testing, and makes an efficient tool for data visualization and later decision-making.
(BQ) Part 1 book "Molecular histopathology and tissue biomarkers in drug and diagnostic development" presentation of content: Histopathology - A canvas and landscape of disease in drug and diagnostic development, histopathology in mouse models of rheumatoid arthritis, markers used for visualization and quantification of blood and lymphatic vessels, image analysis tools for quantification of spinal motor neuron subtype identities,...
(BQ) Part 1 book "Molecular histopathology and tissue biomarkers in drug and diagnostic development" presentation of content: Final recommendations, three companion diagnostic development paths, implementing a multi analyte immunohistochemistry panel into a drug development program, cutpoint methods in digital pathology and companion diagnostics,...
Chapter 16 - Exploring, displaying, and examining data. After studying this chapter you will be able to understand: That exploratory data analysis techniques provide insights and data diagnostics by emphasizing visual representations of the data; how cross-tabulation is used to examine relationships involving categorical variables, serves as a framework for later statistical testing, and makes an efficient tool for data visualization and later decision-making.
There is a need for
development of new diagnostic tools to allow earlier detection of active disease, predict
disease progression and evaluate the response to periodontal therapy, thereby improving
the clinical management of patients with periodontal diseases. Advances in periodontal
diseases diagnostic research are moving toward methods whereby periodontal risk can be
identified and quantified by objective measures such as biomarkers.
Although most of the research and clinical attention has been on unipolar depression among
antenatal and postnatal women, there is evidence that women with bipolar disorders are at
increased risk of postnatal psychosis, and women who have depressive symptoms should
be screened for bipolar disorder and monitored for elevated mood. However, there is no
consensus on the most effective screening method, with a variety of possible tools but no
one well validated in antenatal women (Chessick & Dimidjian, 2010)....
