In this article, different definitions of the term Digital Libraries are discussed. Two major definitions are dwelled upon: one emerging from the library world and the other from the world of scientific research.
Digital library is commonly seen as a type of information retrieval system which stores and accesses digital content remotely via computer networks. However, the vision of digital libraries is not limited to technology or management, but user experience. This book is an attempt to share the practical experiences of solutions to the operation of digital libraries. To indicate interdisciplinary routes towards successful applications, the chapters in this book explore the implication of digital libraries from the perspectives of design, operation, and promotion....
The hardcopy documents might be books, magazines, journals, extension leaflets, training handouts, photographs, line drawings and even handwritten manuscripts. You may have a few of these, several shelves full, or you may want to convert your library to a digital library.
The main objective of the doctoral research was to improve the performance in
Physics and Mathematics, at Advanced Level Examinations, of two rural girls’
secondary schools in Arua (Muni and Ediofe) through application of e-learning.
Both schools have no functional science laboratories and libraries. They also
have no qualified and committed teachers who can competently teach at that
level of education. The research included participatory action research
methodology and the use of interactive multimedia CD-ROMs for Physics and
Mathematics as the main course delivery platform.
While the purview of digital forensics was once specialized to fields of law enforcement, computer security, and national defense, the increasing ubiquity of computers and electronic devices means that digital forensics is now used in a wide variety of cases and circumstances. Most records today are born digital, and libraries and other collecting institutions increasingly receive computer storage media as part
The development of new digital technologies has led to fundamental changes in the ways that cultural institutions fulfill their public missions of access, preservation, research, and education. Many institutions are developing publicly-accessible websites in which users can visit online exhibitions, search collection databases, access images of collection items, and in some cases create their own digital content. Digitization, however
The Cloud Library project emerged out of a series of discussions that began with Carol Mandel,
Jim Neal, John Wilkin and Jim Michalko in 2009. These individuals provided leadership and
vision that guided all the work that followed.
Library staff from New York University, Columbia University, the New York Public Library and
Princeton University participated in a variety of meetings, conference calls and e-mail
exchanges that helped to give shape to the project. The Andrew W.
ECE 551 Digital Design And Synthesis: Lecture 4 has many contents: Behavioral Verilog, Blocking vs Non-Blocking, Simulator Mechanics part duo, Another initial Statement Example, Trigger lists (Sensitivity lists), FlipFlops (finally getting somewhere, Know your cell library, More on Blocking,...
SPICE (Simulation Program for Integrated Circuits
Emphasis) is a general purpose analog circuit simulator that is
used to verify circuit designs and to predict the circuit behavior.
• PSpice is a PC version of SPICE and HSpice is a version that
runs on workstations and larger computers.
• PSpice has analog and digital libraries of standard
components (such as NAND, NOR, flip-flops, and other
digital gates, op amps, etc) which makes it a useful tool for
a wide range of analog and digital applications....
We live in the data age. It’s not easy to measure the total volume of data stored electronically,
but an IDC estimate put the size of the “digital universe” at 0.18 zettabytes
in 2006 and is forecasting a tenfold growth by 2011 to 1.8 zettabytes.1 A zettabyte is
1021 bytes, or equivalently one thousand exabytes, one million petabytes, or one billion
terabytes. That’s roughly the same order of magnitude as one disk drive for every person
in the world.

The field of medical informatics has grown rapidly over the past decade
due to the advances in biomedical computing, the abundance of biomedical
and genomic data, the ubiquity of the Internet, and the general acceptance of
computing in various aspects of medical, biological, and health care research
and practice. This book aims to be complementary to several other popular
introductory medical informatics textbooks.
As digital libraries and the World Wide Web (WWW) continue to grow exponentially,
the ability to find useful information will greatly depend on the associated
underlying framework of the indexing infrastructure or search engine. The push to
get information on-line must be mediated by the design of automated techniques for
extracting that information for a variety of users and needs. What algorithms and
software environments are plausible for achieving both accuracy and speed in text
Engineers and PCB Designers who need to learn about Altium Designer’s PCB design environment will complete this class with a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of Designing for PCBs within the Altium Designer environment. The major topics covered by this course include: Project Creation and management - Schematic Capture - Footprint, Symbol, and Library creation - Synchronization of Schematic and PCB - PCB Layout and Routing - Manufacturing Outputs - Documentation Outputs and Management.
