In clinical practice left ventricular (LV) function is commonly
evaluated by 2-D and M-mode echocardiography.
These modalities have significant limitations, and tissue
Doppler imaging (TDI) has been introduced as a quantitative
and more objective method for assessing myocardial
function. The TDI modalities include myocardial
velocity imaging,displacement imaging,strain rate imaging,
and strain imaging (Fig. 1).
An extrasolar planet or exoplanet is a planet orbiting a star (or remnant of a
star) beyond our Solar System. As of autumn 2007, about 250 exoplanets had been
discovered around 220 different stars, including nearly two dozen multiple planet
systems. No less than five exoplanets have been discovered orbiting the star 55
Cancri; one of the planets has nearly four times the mass of Jupiter, another is
comparable with Jupiter in mass, two are slightly less massive than Saturn, while
the innermost planet has a mass similar to that of Uranus....
Different terms are employed in the literature to specify this method on investigations: dualbeam
coherent interferometry or laser Doppler interferometry, optical coherence
tomography (OCT) or optical coherence reflectometry. OCT is analogous to ultrasonic
imaging, which measures the intensity of reflected infrared light rather than reflected sound
waves from the sample. Time gating is employed so that the time for the light to be reflected
back (or echo delay time) is used to assess the intensity of back-reflection as a function of
We postulated that combining high-dose simvastatin with bone marrow derived-mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) delivery may give better prognosis in a mouse hindlimb ischemia model. Methods: Mouse hindlimb ischemia model was established by ligating the right femoral artery. Animals were grouped (n = 10) to receive local injection of saline without cells (control and simvastatin groups) or with 5 × 106 MSCs (MSCs group).Animals received either simvastatin (20 mg/kg/d, simvastatin and combination groups) or saline (control and MSCs group) gavages for continual 21 days.
