The second chapter of the book demonstrates both the power of fluid dynamic
analysis and its inherent complexity, even when the flow geometry is relatively
simple. The problem under consideration is important to design of engines and
becomes increasingly complicated when the incompressibility, heat generation, and
mass flux are included.
Computed tomography (CT) is the mainstay of
cancer imaging outside of the central nervous
system. Advances in multidetector CT (MDCT)
technology have had a profound impact on its diagnostic
capabilities. Such techniques as multiphase, single breath-hold
imaging, CT angiography (CTA), volume rendering and
virtual colonography owe their success to the development of
multidetector arrays with continuously moving gantries.
We analyze the susceptibility of the Internet to
random faults, malicious attacks, and mixtures of faults and
attacks.We analyze actual Internet data, as well as simulated data
created with network models. The network models generalize
previous research, and allow generation of graphs ranging from
uniform to preferential, and from static to dynamic.We introduce
new metrics for analyzing the connectivity and performance of
networks which improve upon metrics used in earlier research.
Centerless grinding operations present some characteristic features that make the process especially susceptible to regenerative chatter instabilities. Theoretical study of these vibrations present some difficulties due to the large amount of parameters involved in the process and, in addition, such a study requires a precise determination of dynamic properties of the particular machine under study.
