Are you curious about how we should deal with issues like climate change, international terrorism, decision-making in democracies, migration, an ageing population, social and health insurance? Do you wonder whether the market can always regulate itself, or whether policy is sometimes required to step in? Don't you dare to ask questions that don’t have straightforward answers? The Public Economics track offers you the possibility to do just that

This textbook on Political Economy, prepared by the Economics
Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the U.S.S.R., was first
published in the U.S.S.R. in 1954. Regarding political economy as the
science of the laws of development of the relations of production in
human society, it deals not only with the capitalist economic system
but also with pre- capitalist economic relations and, in considerable
detail, with the economics of socialism.
A first option for providing additional monetary accommodation, if necessary, is
to expand the Federal Reserve’s holdings of longer-term securities. As I noted earlier,
the evidence suggests that the Fed’s earlier program of purchases was effective in
bringing down term premiums and lowering the costs of borrowing in a number of
private credit markets. I regard the program (which was significantly expanded in March
2009) as having made an important contribution to the economic stabilization and
recovery that began in the spring of 2009.
We can see by the responses above that the participants did not aspire to high earnings,
possibly because they do not have a sense of how much money is required to earn a
living wage, and/or because they have grown up in poverty. The latter two respondents
have a sense of the connections between earning and living standards. The gap in
knowledge around earning capacity could be one starting place to help young women
assess how much they need to earn in order to attain a living wage. The need for
economic literacy is starkly apparent from the responses above....

Live online learning is no longer just a “hot trend”—it is a training delivery
method that is here to stay. The ability to interact with people all over the world
in real time has become a critical success factor for training and education. While
the technology has reached an early stage of maturation, best practices on how
to utilize the technology have not been established.

In 10 tests done on men, some of the fermentation parameters vary. These include: shell stored over fresh fruit, spread the beans before fermentation, soaking beans after fermentation and the length of fermentation time. In Dak Lak province, because lower ambient temperature, a "hot" fermentation procedure was trialed in an effort to bring the air temperature to those encountered in the Mekong region. These tests are usually carried out in parallel with the performance testing of solar dryers. A summary of the performance of solar dryers of Can Tho and Dak Lak also included....

A vast literature focuses on the predictability of U.S. and international stock returns using macroe-
conomic variables, such as the short government interest rate or the yield spread between defaultable
and government bonds. For instance, Ferson and Harvey (1993) nd that returns on international
stock indexes are predictable using macroeconomic indicators as conditioning variables. More
strikingly, Ferson and Harvey (1999) nd that broad economic variables explain the cross-sectional
variation in U.S. individual stock returns better than the Fama and French (1993) empirical factors.

The word economy comes from the Greek word for “one who manages a household.” At first, this origin might seem peculiar. But, in fact, households and economies have much in common. A household faces many decisions.
