Electrical Design manual for hospitals includes general requirement; raceways, wiring and equipment; receptacle and power requirements; essential and standby electrical power systems; electrical power distribution; lighting; telecommunications systems; information technology rooms requirements; specal medical and alarm systems.
The concept of this book is that of a personal tool, which compacts 20 percent of the data is needed 80 percent of the time by electrical design professionals in the preliminary design of buildings of all types and sizes. This tool is meant to always be at one's fingertips ( open on a drawing board, desk, or computer table; carried in a briefcase; or kept in one's pocket).
Although there is no “typical” electric power system, a diagram
including the several components that are usually to be found in the
makeup of such a system is shown in Figure 1-1; particular attention
should be paid to those elements which will make up the component
under discussion, the distribution system.
While most HVAC designers will have the support of a competent electrical
design staff, it is important to understand certain fundamentals
of electricity, power distribution, and utilization, because so many
HVAC system devices are mechanically driven and controlled. This
book cannot present electrical topics in great detail, but it can address
several common topics and refer to more definitive works.

The inspiration for Building Systems for Interior Designers
came when I tried to teach interior design students
about all the ways buildings support our activities and
physical needs—without an adequate textbook. I needed
