  • Twenty years ago, when I began researching and writing about men’s health at the University of California at Berkeley, men in the United States were dying more than 7 years younger than women. It was a time when “men’s health” was really nothing more than an oxymoron. • Your education loan debt represents a serious financial commitment that must be repaid. A default on any loan engenders serious consequences, including possible legal action against you by the lender or the government, or both. Law school graduate debt of $100,000 amounts to almost $1,187 a month on a standard 10-year repayment plan. • For the past hundred years, innovation within the automotive sector has brought major technological advances, leading to safer, cleaner, and more affordable vehicles. But for the most part, since Henry Ford introduced the moving assembly line, the changes have been incremental, evolutionary. Now, in the early decades of the 21st century, the industry appears to be on the cusp of revolutionary change—with potential to dramatically reshape not just the competitive landscape but also the way we interact with vehicles and, indeed, the future design of our roads and cities.

Sixty percent of the population resides on the island of Java. The population is increasing at a greater rate than previously predicted, likely related to a de-emphasis of the national family planning (FP) programs and regional migration.

  • The medical devices industry is booming. Growth in the industry has not stopped despite globally fluctuating economies. The main reason for this success is probably the self-sustaining nature of health care. In essence, the same technology that makes it possible for people to live longer engenders the need for more health-care technologies to enhance the quality of an extended lifetime. It comes as no surprise, then, that the demand for trained medical-device designers has increased tremendously over the past few years.
