Sea Lamprey Objectives
Reduce sea lamprey abundance to allow the achievement of other fish community objectives.
Obtain a 75% reduction in parasitic sea lampreys by the year 2000 and a 90% reduction by the
Species Diversity Objective
Recognize and protect the array of other indigenous fish species because they contribute to the
richness of the fish community. These fish – cyprinids, rare ciscoes, suckers, burbot, gar, and
sculpins- are important because of their ecological significance; intrinsic value; and social,
cultural, and economic benefits.
Managing inter-object dependencies in object-oriented systems is a complex task. Changes of one
object often require dependent objects to change accordingly. Making every object explicitly inform
every dependent object about its state changes intertwines object interfaces and implementations,
thereby hampering system evolution and maintenance. These problems can be overcome by
introducing the notion of Implicit Invocation to object-oriented systems as a decoupling mechanism
(BQ) Environmental management systems — Requirements with guidance for use has been developed within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and pro cessed under the ISO-lead mode of collaboration as defined in the Vienna Agreement. The final draft was established on the basis of comments received during a parallel enquiry on the draft.
This book is written with the objective of providing fundamental knowledge
concerning the biological and health effects of environmental pollutants on
living systems. The book emphasizes the chemical and biological characteristics
of major pollutants found in our environment and their impacts on the health
of living organisms, including not only humans and animals but also plants.
The environmental industry is changing, along with the way it manages data. Many projects
are making a transition from investigation through remediation to ongoing monitoring. Data
management is evolving from individual custom systems for each project to standardized,
centralized databases, and many organizations are starting to realize the cost savings of this
As a result of the gloomy economic climate in Europe brought about by the
ongoing crisis affecting all enterprises (particularly SMEs) in France, the French
government has recently decided to create different poles of innovation and
research associated to the activities of enterprises. The objective is to propose new
ideas for helping these enterprises to be more efficient and able to resist the threat
to their existence from globalisation.
One of the difficulties of these enterprises is that they find it difficult to penetrate
the European market and export their products.
The overall objective of the project is to reduce the use of N fertilizer use on legumes soybean and groundnut in Vietnam through by increasing legume inoculants. Replace N fertilizer with legume inoculants will provide both economic benefits and environmental benefits for farmers and reduce financial stress for poor farmers by reducing input costs. The approach is to raise awareness and demand for inoculants through an expanded program including live demonstrations of the benefits of inoculants and training in the functions and their use.
Around one third of our visits were to firms for whom financial services is not their
main line of business and sell PPI as a tertiary product. Of these nearly a half had not
properly engaged with their regulatory responsibilities and had in general failed to
meet the standards of TCF and ICOB.
Motor retailers have shown some of the biggest improvements since our earlier
work, for instance, they have been proactive in changing their sales processes to
better align them with TCF objectives.
Many critical survival issues are related to uneven development, poverty, and population
growth. They all place unprecedented pressures on the planet's lands, waters, forests, and
other natural resources, not least in the developing countries. The downward spiral of poverty
and environmental degradation is a waste of opportunities and of resources. In particular, it is
a waste of human resources. These links between poverty, inequality, and environmental
degradation formed a major theme in our analysis and recommendations.
Some protective headgear allows for the use of various
accessories to help employees deal with changing environmental
conditions, such as slots for earmuffs, safety glasses, face shields
and mounted lights. Optional brims may provide additional
protection from the sun and some hats have channels that guide
rainwater away from the face. Protective headgear accessories must
not compromise the safety elements of the equipment.
Periodic cleaning and inspection will extend the useful life of
The objectives of this chapter are to: Discuss the prevalence of timber theft, explain agrichemical theft, discuss cattle and horse rustling, outline several methods of horse and cattle identification, summarize measures to prevent rural and agricultural crimes, distinguish between situational and professional poachers, understand investigative techniques used in wildlife crimes, list and describe the characteristics of hazardous waste, discuss methods of investigating environmental crimes.
For Anthony (1990), implementing a
control system in an organisation is justified on account of its being the only process through which
company management ensures that the organisation’s objectives are achieved and employed most
effectively. Simons (1995) and Merchant (1982) defend the use of control systems as mechanisms for
managing organisational change.
Research objectives: The research is designed to study, analyze, evaluate, and compare the practices of environmental governance in Vietnam and South Korea in various periods of socio-economic development course in order to determine the lessons from South Korea that can be the valuable references to Vietnam for its development and industrialization process towards 2030.
The training course manual on basic environmental education supports a training course on Basic Environmental Education to other teacher trainers, lower secondary teachers and teacher trainees. The objective is to help teachers integrate, mainstream and/or relate to environmental issues and environmental protection in their lessons, not only in those subjects with explicit relations such as Biology or Geography. This manual provides suggestions for conducting a two and a half day training course on Environemental Education.
The use of aeration in the wastewater treatment field has been in existence for over
a century. Each of the authors has been involved with the theory and application of
aeration systems for a little less than half a century. It was a daunting task to put
together what we considered the important principles underlying the mechanisms
involved in aeration and show how they are applied in practical applications.
describe environmentally conscious design technique in the field on buildings and
architecture: how to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by
enhancing the energy efficiency, water efficiency, use sustainable (renewable or
recyclables) materials of construction. Section 4 is a collection of articles related to
sustainable agriculture and food security: systems of food production that provide
secure supply to meet the world growing population.
This document should be useful for security program managers, technical and functional managers,
network and system administrators, and other information technology (IT) staff members. It provides
them with a structured approach to network security testing. Management personnel who are responsible
for systems can apply the testing procedures and tools discussed in this document to become informed
about the status of the assets under their stewardship. This document can also assist in evaluating
compliance with their organization’s security standards and requirements.
Private landowners or Federal Agencies responsible for cleaning up radiological environments are faced with the challenge of clearly defining the nature and extent of radiological contamination, implementing remedial alternatives, then statistically verifying that cleanup objectives have been met.
At its inception, the original plan for this symposium was to emphasize
the medical aspects of inorganic chemistry, rather than to go over
once more new developments in bioinorganic chemistry, important as the
subject is, since the latter topic has been treated many times in recent
symposia reviews and monographs.
