In September 2003, Lou Carter’s Best Practices Institute performed a research
study on trends and practices in leadership development and organization
change. BPI asked organizations in a range of industries, sizes, and positions
in the business cycle to identify their top methods of achieving strategic change
and objectives. The study found that there is a strong demand, in particular, in
the following areas of leadership development and organization change (see
Tourism is big business and getting bigger. In the 20 years from1980 to 2000
global tourism receipts increased at an annual rate of nearly 8 per cent,
much faster than the rate of world economic growth of around 3 per cent.
In 2000, income from tourism combined with passenger transport totaled
more than $575 billion, making this sector the world number one export
earner, ahead of automotive production, chemicals, petroleum and food

PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) is Oracle Corporation's procedural extension language for SQL and the Oracle relational database. Server-side PL/SQL is stored and compiled in the Oracle Database and runs within the Oracle executable. With this guide Oracle developers can work towards accomplishing Oracle 11g Advanced PL/SQL Professional certification, which is the second milestone for developers working at the Associate level.
No book is the product of its author(s) or editor(s) alone. This book is no
different. Accordingly, we would especially like to thank Dr. Don Cole,
president of the Organization Development Institute, for his support of this
project. Although he did not see the many drafts of this work, he was supportive
of it. It was his original idea to define the knowledge and skill necessary for
competence in OD.
As developing Asia rebounds from the global economic crisis ahead of
the rest of the world, the Asian Development Outlook 2010 (ADO 2010)
predicts growth exceeding 7% in the region this year and next. Although
that is still lower than the precrisis outcome of 9.6% in 2007, such a
healthy rebound, from a low of 5.2% in 2009, would be welcome.
At the close of the 1980s, considerable doubts had begun to emerge among
international donor agencies regarding the cost-effectiveness of publicly
owned and managed technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Based on extensive analysis, a 1991 World Bank Policy Paper on TVET found
a diverse market for skills development globally with national training systems
consisting of public training, private training, and enterprise-based training.
The purpose of this state of the art review is to assess what is currently assumed and believed about
the relationship of skills development to poverty reduction, and to place that in historical perspective.
There will be a particular attempt, where possible, to examine what is known about skills in rural
areas. This task is made more complex by the fact that both ‘skills development’ and ‘poverty
reduction’ are neologisms; they have not been in common parlance for much more than a decade.

CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) models are collections
of best practices that help organizations to improve their
processes. These models are developed by product teams with members
from industry, government, and the Software Engineering Institute
This model, called CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV), provides
a comprehensive integrated set of guidelines for developing
products and services.
The journey for this book has been the result of a series of events during the past four
years. Like many works before ours, it was simply a story whose time had come.
In 2004, Executive Development Associates (EDA) conducted its bi-annual survey of
Trends in Executive Development.2 More than 100 Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies
The findings identified executive coaching as the fifth most prevalent
learning method among 25 possibilities (Table 1).
Development planning is a contested terrain, particularly
in sub-Saharan Africa. Historically, the approach to
African development has been externally oriented. For the
past four decades, the subcontinent has been negotiating
its development with external partners. More often than
not, this has meant that the process, instruments and
outcomes of development have been determined by
external partners, rather than by African societies and

A comprehensive reference for an executable UML and the advantages of modeling This book presents the most up-to-date technology for rapidly developing information systems using the object-oriented paradigm and models, and establishes an executable profile of UML for such model-driven development. As a software developer, architect, or analyst, you’ll benefit from learning how information systems can be developed more efficiently using the object-oriented paradigm and model-driven approach.
In test driven development, you first write an executable test of what your application code must do. Only then do you write the code itself and, with the test spurring you on, you improve your design. In acceptance test driven development (ATDD), you use the same technique to implement product features, benefiting from iterative development, rapid feedback cycles, and better-defined requirements. TDD and its supporting tools and techniques lead to better software faster.
The purpose of this book is to help human resource professionals
and their clients become more savvy consumers of coaching services.
With the wide array of coaching services now available in the
marketplace, HR professionals need information to allow them to
sort through options, ask discerning questions, and understand what
constitutes successful coaching engagements.
