This book compiles recent studies on interferometry and its applications in science and
technology. It is intended as an up-to-date reference of theoretical and experimental
aspects of interferometry and their applications.
The book is divided in two sections. The first one is an overview of different
interferometry techniques and their general applications. Chapter 1 is concentrated
on the classical field interferometry. This chapter describes and explains the
structures of different type of fiber interferometers, and the standard methods for

nanoparticles and condensed matter is a hot topic of modern physics, since the
obtained results stimulate the development of fundamental principles of light-matter
interaction and, at the same time, find the wide area of practical applications.
This volume contains the contributions devoted both to the discussion of general
principles and fundamental experiments, as well as the different practical applications.
Recent advents in laser technology and discoveries in laser physics have enabled their
very new and exciting applications. Some of them cover production of new materials:
nano-particles, periodic structures in nano-scale, and thin films. Others allowed better
understanding of laser-matter interaction when sample is subjected to intense laser
pulses of various time duration, shape in space and time domains as well as different
spectral components contained in a pulse.
