Volume 2 of the four-volume The Facts On File
Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine presents the
body systems that nourish, cleanse, and protect
the body. These are the systems of cells and fluids
and the structures that transport them throughout
the body. Though distinct in their functions and
purposes, these systems overlap and integrate
with one another in inseparable ways.
The Cardiovascular System
Volume 2 opens with “The Cardiovascular System,”
the structures and functions that carry
blood throughout the body.
The Encyclopedia of World Cultures was prepared under the auspices and with the support of the Human Relations Area Files at Yale University. HRAF, the foremost international research organization in the field of cultural anthropology, is a not-for-profit consortium of twenty-three sponsoring members and 300 participating member institutions in twenty-five countries.

In the ’90s, the web was full of 15-page specifications, all in a single file. You scrolled
through those massive documents just like you paged through an encyclopedia.
(BQ) Notable Sports Figures does not necessarily fill a void in biographical coverage of athletes when one considers the recent publication of several other sources, such as Encyclopedia of North American Sports History (2d ed., Facts On File, 2002) or The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives: Sports Figures (2002). Admittedly these two volumes are restricted to American or North American sports coverage, but after scanning the geographic index in Notable Sports Figures, it is quite evident that the emphasis is on American athletes.
