The dissertation aims to conduct a research on state management of socialization of forest protection and development in the Central Highlands both to further enhance and sharpen the theoretical foundation and to provide scientific recommendations for perfection of state management of socialization of forest protection and development in the Central Highlands.
Report by the Comm. on Climate and Tropical Forests, which was formed in 2009 to ensure effective protection of tropical forests primarily as part of U.S. climate change policies, but also through engagement in internat. agree. The intent has been to create actionable, politically viable recommend. that can inform and guide the U.S. in its legislative and diplomatic negotiations on this issue. This book is designed to help forest owners, loggers, and others better understand the Forest Practices Rules and how they protect public resources, such as fish, water, wildlife, and state and municipal capital improvements. In it, you’ll find commonly encountered rules, with photographs and illustrations that show what these operations look like.
Forests play an important role in reducing erosion. In Vietnam, destroying natural forests in mountainous areas has caused serious environmental problems for sustainable development. Required forest areas for protection of soils from erosion in Vietnam are defined in this study. An algorithm of defining required forest area for soil erosion prevention is based on a comparison of soil loss prediction and its threshold of 10 ton ha-1yr-1 (soil loss tolerance) within the GIS environment. Soil loss is predicted from rainfall erosivity index, slope, porosity and...
Research objectives: Can analyze the current situation and characteristics of natural rehabilitation of flora carpet on lands after shifting cultivation as a basis for building the classification of rehabilitation capacity in the study area; can assess the protection capacity of flora carpet on lands after shifting cultivation, can classify rehabilitation potential of forest on lands after shifting cultivation through forest time natural rehabilitation, and propose some silviculture solutions for forest rehabilitation on lands after shifting cultivation in the watershed protection area.
The term environment broadly indicates the surroundings of an individual
organism or a community of organisms, ranging on up to the entire biosphere,
the zone of Earth that is able to sustain life. By surroundings is meant all the
nonliving and living materials that play any role in an organism's existence,
from soil and air to what the organism feeds on and the organisms that may
feed on it. Any other factors acting on the organism, such as heat and light and
gravitation, make up its environment as well. In the case of human beings,
cultural factors may also be included in the term....
This work inevitably sprang out of our environmental biotechnology modules at
the University of Durham, but it is not intended to be just another ‘book of the
course’. Though it is clearly rooted in these origins, it reflects our wider, and
rather varied, experiences of the field. In many respects, we have been fortunate;
teaching has undoubtedly drawn on the ‘theory’, while our own consultancy has
tended to focus us on the ‘application’.
A newcomer to the scene, aerobic granulation is on its way to becoming the hot new technology for high-efficiency wastewater treatment. Thus far, intensive research has been conducted with regard to the understanding of the mechanism of aerobic granulation in sequencing batch reactors (SBR) and its application in treating a wide variety of municipal and industrial wastewater. This basic research has promoted the technology from laboratory-study all the way to the present pilot- and full-scale application.
The Mekong River Delta in Vietnam can be considered as a large tropical wetland, in which two typical eco-forest wetlands can be distinguished: the inland Melaleuca forest wetlands and the coastal mangrove forest wetlands. Their main functions are the provision of forest commodities, the regulation of the water balance and biodiversity conservation. However as elsewhere under human pressure their existence is under the threat of forest fires and deforestation. Their protection requires the implementation of a multi-level national or sub-national planning policy.
The dynamic nature of the Jepara industrial complex also affects the Indonesian wood products
chain, attracting timber produced from forests located throughout Central Java (Figure 1) and
beyond, including the outer islands. Thousands of trucks and pickups bring logs into the district
from distant places, including state and community forest plantations.
According to the scheme for forests, the services are divided into five main categories: resources;
ecological; biospheric; social; and amenities2. The resources category refers to all goods that may be
obtained from forests (wood and non-wood); the ecological services are those related to protection
of water, soil and health; the biospheric services are mainly climate regulation and biodiversity
protection; while social and amenity services comprise of different types of recreational activities
and the cultural importance of forests.
Forests ecosystems provide a multiplicity of goods and services of crucial ecological, social and
economic importance for the sustainability of our society. Forest goods and services represent the
benefits that human populations derive, directly or indirectly, from forest ecosystems functions
(MEA 2005) and are therefore an inherently anthropogenic concept, since it is the presence of human
beings as valuing agents that enables the translation of the basic ecological structures and processes
of forests into value-laden entities. ...
In recent years Vietnam’s forest coverage has
undergone rapid expansion, with a marked
increase in plantings of exotic species of
Eucalyptus, Acacia and Pinus. This expansion
provides excellent opportunities for new
international export markets for timber
products. However it also represents new and
increased risks from forestry pests and
diseases, which in outbreak circumstances can
have catastrophic consequences on plantation
establishment and productivity. These risks
come from pest and disease species already
established in Vietnam, and exotic species not
yet present in the country....
engineered solutions often work against nature, particularly when they aim to constrain regular
ecological cycles, such as annual river flooding and coastal erosion, and could further threaten
ecosystem services if creation of dams, sea walls, and flood canals leads to habitat loss.
Occupation cluster analysis helps identify the fastest growing occupations within the region. Here is an
example from one region in Indiana (Economic Growth Region 11). This region is a center for riverboat
gaming. The data show how the growth of this business sector has created new demands for different
occupations. Table 3 helps quickly identify those occupations with the strongest percentage change and the
largest increase in the number of jobs from 2001 to 2007.

Our long-term vision is that children in developing
countries are protected from or effectively treated
for enteric and diarrheal diseases at the same rate as
children in developed countries. a number of low-cost
interventions exist and are effective for reducing child
deaths due to these diseases, but today they are not
available for many people in developing countries.
