Health care workers have the opportunity and the obligation to identify, treat, and
educate women who are being abused. Health care institutions can make significant
contributions to addressing violence against women by supporting clinicians and clients.
Developing and institutionalizing national health-sector policies, protocols, and norms
about violence call attention to the problem of gender-based violence, and help ensure
quality care for survivors of abuse.
This Outlook issue focuses on the reproductive health consequences of violence
High cooking temperature and thus high pressure is needed when alcohols are
used as cooking chemicals. Methanol has been used as an additive in kraft,
sulphite and soda pulping. However, the use of methanol may be hazardous,
since methanol is a highly flammable and toxic chemical. Demonstration plants
using the alkaline sulphite-anthraquinone-methanol process (ASAM) (Patt &
Kordsachia 1986, Khristova et al. 2002, Patt et al. 1999) and the soda pulping
method with methanol (Organocell) (Schroeter & Dahlmann 1991) have been
A great supplement to your studies is our field trip
programme. You’ll visit a wide range of properties owned,
occupied or operated by individuals or organisations.
This is an important addition to your study of property
management, valuation and investment.
We will arrange business and professional contacts for
you during studies. This will expose you to operating
procedures, research facilities and employment
opportunities. Practical assignments are organised to
provide you with the appropriate professional skills.
My methodology consisted of multiple approaches towards determining student
response to the various screenings. Immediately after each of the three screen-
ings (Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Man With a Movie Camera and Ballet Mechanique),
the entire class of approximately ninety students became a large focus group.
Students participated in dialogues with one another and myself about the posi-
tive and negative effects of the use of electronic music and its implications for
film spectatorship, and I documented their comments.
This report was funded by Health Canada. It was
conducted by a team of international Indigenous
child health researchers, led by Dr. Janet Smylie at the
Centre for Research on Inner City Health, St. Michael’s
Hospital. The report draws upon on a systematic search
of public health data, including scholarly articles
at the national and provincial/territorial level. The
report first addresses First Nations, Inuit, and Métis
children’s health status and assessment in Canada.
Visual inspection reveals that around the time of the EC recommendation of the early
warning to Portugal and Germany (rumours on 17 January, recommendation on 30
January), there was an increase in Portuguese 10-year government bond yields. The
cumulative increase in the Portuguese 10-year government bond yields reached 23 bp
to decline thereafter to 10 bp in the beginning of February. This movement of the
long-term yields implied a decline of the swap spread became negative in some days
of the period between 17 January and 30 January (see Figure 5).
While Greek forms in art reached new heights of popularity in the late 1860s and 70s,
dress reformers were also becoming more vocal. Again, dress reform was not an
entirely new crusade, for example the doctor Andrew Coombes wrote treatises on it as
early as 1834. By the late 1860s the large domed skirts of the crinoline were out of
fashion and instead the so-called ‘S-shape’ or Grecian bend became fashionable. (The
‘S-Shape’ was later used to describe the shape of the Edwardian corset in the 1900s). ...
I’ll wager that no one reading this essay knows (or perhaps wants to know) the author of
the ridiculous sentence in its title. Since the publication of Roland Barthes’s “Death of the
Author” 40 years ago, many readers have acquired a seasoned skepticism about the authority
and dependability of the authorial voice.1 Although Barthes suggests that the emergence
of the reader comes at the expense of the author, authors (and artists) did not die.
The maternity leave is made up of 3 months (12 weeks) under the Kenya Employment Act 2007. A
female employee is entitled to three months maternity leave with full pay and immediately on
expiry of maternity leave before resuming her duties she may proceed to annual leave and/or sick
leave with the consent of the employer; compassionate leave; or any other leave. A male
employee is entitled to 10 working days (2 weeks) paternity leave to support their spouses during
pregnancy or breastfeeding.

In countries such as India, Indonesia, Mexico, and China, the popu-
lation growth rate is very high. The governments in these countries are
concerned about their ability to feed and care for an ever-increasing pop-
ulation. China has given the most attention to family planning. In 1970,
China began an official “one child–one family” policy. In each commu-
nity in China, government agencies work with couples to reach this goal.
The rate of population growth has declined in China, but other social
problems are developing.
In this paper we focus on the recent Spanish credit cycle which largely explains the
banking problems in this country and, in particular, the episodes of financial instability and
uncertainty that the Spanish banking sector suffered during 2009 and 2010. These episodes
gave, in turn, rise to the implementation of banking restructuring plans in 2010 and early 2011.
This paper addresses some of the microeconomic implications of this policy regime
change, focusing on the flows of bank credit to the enterprise sector and analysing
independently the determinants of corporate credit from the side of lenders and borrowers. To
this effect we use results from the recent literature to formulate and specify equations
reflecting the motivation behind lending and borrowing decisions. These equations are
estimated econometrically using firm level data for Bulgarian firms for the period 1995-1999.
Students with disabilities desiring to enroll in any program, service, or activity
of Pepperdine University must be able to meet the minimal standards of both the
University and the particular school, program, service, or activity to which
admission is sought.
The University does not engage in any affirmative action programs for students
with disabilities nor does it consider a student’s disability in evaluating admission
criteria. It is, of course, within the students’ discretion to inform the respective
school’s Admission Committee of a disability if they wish.
Strengthening Job Market Helps PIT
Revenues. The PIT is the state’s largest General
Fund revenue source and grows over time
largely in line with the main component
of taxable personal income: the wages and
salaries of Californians. The most recent data
for 2010 indicate that wages and salaries made
up 73 percent of California resident tax filers’
adjusted gross income (AGI) and accounted
for 63 percent of PIT revenue. Accordingly, the
strength of trends in the state’s job market plays a
major role in the PIT’s overall growth rate.
In 1980, Austin, Texas, and Syracuse, New York, were roughly
the same size. The Austin metro area had a population of about
590,000, and the Syracuse metro area had about 643,000 residents.
By 2007, Austin’s population had increased by more than 1 million
while Syracuse’s population had been stagnant. That same disparity
exists when one examines the growth of employment and real per-
sonal income. Another disparity between the two areas is the tax
burden. State and local taxes accounted for nearly 13 percent of
personal income in Syracuse but only about 9 percent in Austin.
Ongoing board orientation is needed in order to maintain the
culture of trust. When the board is kept informed of an issue
all along, it will more likely trust and respect the executive
director’s recommendations or actions because it understands
the background and rationale. Ongoing orientation, instead of
an annual one-time event, is needed in order to maintain the
culture of trust and respect.
One board chair described annual orientation this way. “It’s
like going away to church camp and getting saved. And then
you come back to your old evil ways.
Children today are communicating over the Internet through a multitude of
ways—MySpace, Xanga and Facebook are just some of the more than 200 social
networking websites. Add in instant messaging, chat rooms, blogging, and the
challenge for parents to keep up is overwhelming. That’s why Time Warner
Cable, your Internet service provider, and CyberAngels, a program of the
acclaimed Guardian Angels organization, have united to help you keep your
child safe. The Internet is a powerful tool, but it’s important to practice some
safety measures and common sense.

While this narrative was probably one of the last actual accounts of the site
before it was backfilled, it is reminiscent of the dramatic accounts given by those elite-
minded tourists on the Grand Tour. The truth of the matter is that an excavation was
conducted by Gennaro Matrone under the supervision of archaeologists who published
the results of the excavation in 1901 and 1902. Both of the excavations yielded numer-
ous objects that were dispersed to museums throughout the United States and Naples,
We must keep in mind that launching of this dedicated satellite will not be an easy
task. The reason is that it will involve number of nations and has to be established as a joint
venture of different nationalities and cultures for a common agenda. This is a huge project
and will involve bout 100 countries or so. Getting them all to agree for this project will be a
challenging and intimidating task. The other main challenges before launching of this satellite
will be-designing of the satellite, meeting the recurring and non recurring expenses of
satellite, ensuring that the...
