  • From high-performance, economical and environmental points of view, Powder metallurgy process shows remarkable advantages in production of parts and components due to their special compositions by elemental mixing and 3-dimensional near net shape forming methods. Powder metallurgy process can be applied to not only metal materials but also ceramics and organic materials, which both are employed as structural and electrical products.

  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is concerned with the efficient numerical solution of the partial differential equations that describe fluid dynamics. CFD techniques are commonly used in the many areas of engineering where fluid behavior is an important factor. Traditional fields of application include aerospace and automotive design, and more recently, bioengineering and consumer and medical electronics.

  • he book begins by documenting the common challenges that must be addressed by system architecture engineering. It explores the major principles answering these challenges and forming the basis of MFESA. Next, the authors introduce MFESA, including its primary goals, inputs, tasks, outputs, and assumptions. Then they describe the fundamental concepts and terminology on which the systems architecture engineering is founded.

  • Primary chemically formed lead dioxide (PbO2 ) was used as positive electrode in preparation of lead–acid bipolar batteries. Chemical oxidation was carried out by both mixing and dipping methods using an optimized amount of ammonium persulfate as a suitable oxidizing agent. Xray diffraction studies showed that the weight ratio of -PbO2 to -PbO2 is more for mixing method before electrochemical forming.

  • This Part of BS 5080 has been prepared under the direction of the Civil Engineering and Building Structures Standards Committee and describes a method for conducting tests under shear forces on structural fixings installed in concrete or masonry materials used in building and civil engineering construction. A structural fixing joins, supports or retains components, and may be defined as one that has been designed to resist some form of loading, since its failure will have structural significance....

  • GDI+ provides the basic functionality to implement graphics in WinForms. GDI+ resides in System.Drawing.dll assembly. The Graphics class is present in the System.Drawing namespace. It cannot be inherited. The CreateGraphics() method is used to create the Graphics object. It is a method of the Control class. Graphics objects can also be created from any object that derives from the Image class.

  • This work is intended to survey the basic theory that underlies the multitude of parameter-rich models that dominate the hydrological literature today. It is concerned with the application of the equation of continuity (which is the fundamental theorem of hydrology) in its complete form combined with a simplified representation of the principle of conservation of momentum. Since the equation of continuity can be expressed in linear form by a suitable choice of state variables and is also parameterfree, it can be readily formulated at all scales of interest.

  • This material is taught in the BSc. Mathematics degree programme at the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. The Finite Volume Method (FVM) is taught after the Finite Difference Method (FDM) where important concepts such as convergence, consistency and stability are presented. The FDM material is contained in the online textbook, ‘Introductory Finite Difference Methods for PDEs’ which is free to download from:

  • We consider the problem of learning context-dependent mappings from sentences to logical form. The training examples are sequences of sentences annotated with lambda-calculus meaning representations. We develop an algorithm that maintains explicit, lambda-calculus representations of salient discourse entities and uses a context-dependent analysis pipeline to recover logical forms. The method uses a hidden-variable variant of the perception algorithm to learn a linear model used to select the best analysis.

  • Integrating statistics and dynamics within a single volume, the book will support the study of engineering mechanics throughout an undergraduate course. The theory of two- and three-dimensional dynamics of particles and rigid bodies, leading to Euler's equations, is developed. The vibration of one- and two-degree-of-freedom systems and an introduction to automatic control, now including frequency response methods, are covered.

  • A Propos Descartes: René Descartes (March 31, 1596 – February 11, 1650), also known as Renatus Cartesius (latinized form), was a highly influential French philosopher, mathematician, scientist, and writer. Dubbed the "Founder of Modern Philosophy", and the "Father of Modern Mathematics", much of subsequent western philosophy is a reaction to his writings, which have been closely studied from his time down to the present day.

  • Epithelial mucins are large complex cell surface and secreted glycoproteins produced by mucosal epithelial cells. Mucins are a major component of the interface between the external world and mucosal tissues, where they provide lubrication, hydration, and a biological and physical barrier to potential toxins, particles, and pathogens. Mucins provide many challenges to researchers due to their large size, complex biochemical nature, and the viscous gels that they form when secreted.

  • This note deals with two fully parallel methods for solving linear partial differentialalgebraic equations (PDAEs) of the form: Aut + B∆u = f(x, t) where A is a singular, symmetric and nonnegative matrix, while B is a symmetric positive define matrix. The stability and convergence of proposed methods are discussed. Some numerical experiments on high-performance computers are also reported.

  • The Financial Catch: Even though all expenses are paid, the company will require the new employee to pay up-front certain work permit, visa, and immigration fees from their own funds. Unfortunately, this multi-national corporation or music mogul cannot pay the $1,800 fees for the applicant. The employer can only be sure that the applicant is serious about the offer by having him pay the up-front fees out of pocket. The Bottom Line: Consistent with the newer forms of the 419 scam, this scam is customized to fit the specific victim. It is not a sudden...

  • This paper proposes a method to correct English verb form errors made by non-native speakers. A basic approach is template matching on parse trees. The proposed method improves on this approach in two ways. To improve recall, irregularities in parse trees caused by verb form errors are taken into account; to improve precision, n-gram counts are utilized to filter proposed corrections. Evaluation on non-native corpora, representing two genres and mother tongues, shows promising results.

  • This paper proposes an input-splitting method for translating spoken-language which includes many long or ill-formed expressions. The proposed method splits input into well-balanced translation units based on a semantic distance calculation. The splitting is performed during left-to-right parsing, and does not degrade translation efficiency. The complete translation result is formed by concatenating the partial translation results of each split unit. The proposed method can be incorporated into frameworks like TDMT, which utilize left-to-right parsing and a score for a substructure. ...

  • We present a pattern matching method for compiling a bilingual lexicon of nouns and proper nouns from unaligned, noisy parallel texts of Asian/Indo-European language pairs. Tagging information of one language is used. Word frequency and position information for high and low frequency words are represented in two different vector forms for pattern matching. New anchor point finding and noise elimination techniques are introduced. We obtained a 73.1% precision. We also show how the results can be used in the compilation of domain-specific noun phrases. ...
