  • The purpose of stated preference design is how to collect data for efficient model estimation with as little bias as possible. Full factorial or fractional factorial designs have been frequently used just in order to keep orthogonality and to avoid multi-colinearity between the attributes. However, these factorial designs have a lot of practical problems. Although many methods are introduced to solve some of these problems, there is no powerful way which solves all problems at once.

There are two types: ‘term (or full) partnering’ which covers an intention to carry out a series of projects together or for a given period; and ‘project-specific partnering’, i.e. co-operation for one job at a time. Normally a promoter negotiates a partnering agreement with his consultant (if he employs one) and a contractor of his own choosing, usually because of past satisfactory experience of working with him.

  • A further example of process redesign for manufacturability is Boeing’s Point of Use system for chemical materials. This enables the storage of materials where the production process utilizes them, as opposed to the previous system which utilized centralized chemical disbursement centers that entailed frequent machinist travel over substantial distances and greater overall chemical usage and waste. Generally, point of use efforts enable the storage of materials where the production process utilizes them.

  • In addition, the popularity of 'chip tuning' diesel engines to improve their power also risks wiping out the benefits of lower emissions from diesel fuel, and seems to boost PM emissions by a factor of three. Furthermore, says the report, even without factoring in non-tested equipment like air conditioning, CO2 emissions from transport have gone up about 20% over the past decade, as growth outstrips clean technology innovations. An agreement from car manufacturers to cut CO2 to 140g/km by 2008, though likely to be met, will not be enough to have a significant impact on emissions.

When purchasing bull calves or females for future bulls, AI service providers have to consider the production and reproduction records, general appearance, breed makeup and pedigree performance of the cow. The most accurate way to select the best cows will be to perform a statistical analysis to obtain a genetic evaluation. Many factors other than genetics will affect an animal’s production.

  • Only a firm’s management and insiders know the exact motive for a stock split; outsiders cannot observe it directly. To address this challenge, we use earnings quality to proxy for the firm’s propensity to engage in manipulative activities. If a firm intends to manipulate its equity value prior to an acquisition, it may not confine itself to stock splits. Another way to achieve this goal is through earnings management, as documented by Erickson and Wang (1999) and Louis (2004).

Poor environmental factors, including inadequate health care and nutrition can prevent the attainment of one’s full growth potential (Martorell, 1999; Pelletier, 1994; Monckeberg 1992). Health care providers that practice high quality prenatal and child healthcare can directly influence the efficacy of the production of child health inasmuch as their practices have an empirical basis.
