The Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) was established in 1958 with
the mission to improve the quality of biology education at all levels. Not long
after the inception of the organization, our mission was expanded to include the
improvement of science education, not just biology education. In 2000, we further
articulated this mission to describe the work we would do in curriculum develop-
ment, professional development, and research and evaluation.
In the absence
of a licensing option, online access to most of the digitized retrospective literature will be
severely constrained. Demand for print versions of digitized books will continue to exist and
libraries will be motivated to meet it, but they will need to do so in more cost-effective ways.
In the absence of fully available online editions, full-text indexing of digitized in-copyright
material provides a means of moderating and tuning demand for print versions and should
facilitate the transfer of an increasing part of the print inventory to high-density warehouses.
Only proposals submitted using the official application form completed in full, signed
(original signatures required) and received by the specified deadline, will be considered.
The application form must be accompanied by an official letter from the applicant
organisation, and by documents attesting its financial and operational capacity, and all the
other documents referred to in the application form.

The interest manifested in the subject, as evidenced by numerous letters of inquiry since received from
physicians in almost all parts of the United States, and some in Europe, has induced me to write the present
treatise, in which I have endeavored to present to the profession, as far as lies in my power, all that is
necessary to a full comprehension of the electro-balneological treatment.

On completion of this chapter students will know how to: write a formal business letter using the full block format; differentiate between letters of inquiry, letters of complaint, response letters and sales letters; recognise the features and purposes of communicating via email; construct a standard email; use a range of practices to ensure successful business email communication.
