With the rapid development of nanoscience and nanotechnology over the last decades, great progress has been made not only in the preparation and characterization of nanomaterials, but also in their functional applications. As an important one dimensional nanomaterial, nanofibers have extremely high specific surface area because of their small diameters, and nanofiber membranes are highly porous with excellent pore interconnectivity.

New approaches to tailormade cellulose/starch/ligninsynthetic polymer graft copolymers with precise control over molecular weight, degree of substitution, backbonegraft linkage, and the overall grafting process are being studied. Crosslinked graft copolymers with exactly defined polymer chain segments between crosslink points have been prepared. The graft copolymers exhibit a twophase morphology and can function effectively as compatibilizers/interfacial agents to alloy cellulosic and lignocellulosic materials with synthetic polymers.

The exact relations between science and technology in particular have been debated by scientists, historians, and policymakers in the late 20th century, in part because the debate can inform the funding of basic and applied science. In the immediate wake of World War II, for example, in the United States it was widely considered that technology was simply "applied science" and that to fund basic science was to reap technological results in due time.

In this article we study several homology theories of the algebra E ∞ (X) of Whitney functions over a subanalytic set X ⊂ Rn with a view towards noncommutative geometry. Using a localization method going back to Teleman we prove a HochschildKostantRosenberg type theorem for E ∞ (X), when X is a regular subset of Rn having regularly situated diagonals. This includes the case of subanalytic X. We also compute the Hochschild cohomology of E ∞ (X) for a regular set with regularly situated diagonals and derive the cyclic and periodic cyclic theories. ...

We use this subconvexity bound to prove an equidistribution property for incomplete orbits of Heegner points over definite Shimura curves. L(f, s),

The divisibility properties of Dirichlet Lfunctions in infinite families of characters have been studied by Iwasawa, Ferrero and Washington. The families considered by them are obtained by twisting an arbitrary Dirichlet character with all characters of ppower conductor for some prime p. One has to distinguish divisibility by p (the case considered by Iwasawa and FerreroWashington [FeW]) and by a prime = p (considered by Washington [W1], [W2]). Ferrero and Washington proved the vanishing of the Iwasawa µinvariant of any branch of the KubotaLeopoldt padic Lfunction. ...
