  • Emission inventories play a dual role in global air pollution issues. Firstly, they can be used directly to establish the more important source categories, to identify trends in emissions and to examine the impact of different policy approaches. Secondly, emission inventories are used to drive atmospheric models applied to assess the environmental consequences of changing trace gas emissions and concentrations and to provide advice to policy makers. This second role contributes to the atmospheric modelling community being an important user of emission inventories.

Gram´s stain is a staining technique used to classify bacteria based on the different characteristic of their cell walls. Gram-positive or Gram-negative bacteria are determined by the amount and location of peptidoglycan in the cell wall, exhibiting different chemical compositions and structures, cell-wall permeabilities, physiologies, metabolisms, and pathogenicities.

  • Beer has been a popular beverage for thousands of years and brewing is often described as the oldest biotechnological process. Over the years the brewmaster’s art has been supplemented by vast increases in our knowledge of the chemistry and biochemistry both of the ingredients and of the changes taking place to those ingredients during brewing. Together these contribute to give the products we recognise today - a wide range of different but consistently high quality beer types.

  • The heat radiation from gas flaring greatly affects the surrounding environment and particular crops planted within the vicinity of gas flare stations (Abdulkareem and Odigure, 2002). It also has a devastating effect on microorganisms and aquatic life. Heat radiation from gas flaring also causes an increase in heat waves hence there is the possibility that habitants of Niger-Delta Area, where the gas flaring stations are located will suffer heart stroke, heart attacks and other ailments aggravated by the heat (Odigure et al., 2003).

  • Trigeneration. The combination of gas engines with absorption chillers is an optimal solution for generating air conditioning and/or refrigeration. The waste heat from the mixture intercooler, the engin oil, the engine cooling water, and the exhaust gas serves as drive energy for the chillers. Combining a cogeneration plant unit with an absorption refrigeration system allows utilization of seasonal excess heat for cooling.

  • Since the swap counterparty is typically the bank also acting as ETF provider, investors may be exposed if the bank defaults 6 . Therefore, problems at those banks that are most active in swap-based ETFs may constitute a powerful source of contagion and systemic risk. In addition, the incentives behind the creation of synthetic ETFs may not be aligned along the ETF chain, especially as conflicts of interest can arise from the dual role of some banks as ETF provider and derivative counterparty7 .
