In this paper we present some novel applications of Explanation-Based Learning (EBL) technique to parsing Lexicalized Tree-Adjoining grammars. The novel aspects are (a) immediate generalization of parses in the training set, (b) generalization over recursive structures and (c) representation of generalized parses as Finite State Transducers. A highly impoverished parser called a "stapler" has also been introduced. We present experimental results using EBL for different corpora and architectures to show the effectiveness of our approach. ...
This invaluable little book highlights the real mistakes that students make in the exam - and shows how to avoid them. Based on analysis of thousands of exam scripts, each unit targets a key problem area. Clear explanations and exercises help students to use the language accurately. chemistry, First Edition, by Julia Burdge has been created to bridge the gap in the McGraw-Hill general chemistry offerings. This textbook offers a clear writing style written with the students in mind. Julia uses her background of teaching hundreds of general chemistry students per year and creates content to offer more detailed explanation on areas where she knows they have problems.
Sitting down with the art house, Julia Burdge worked with the artist to create the style and major art pieces in her text.

How drugs act and interact, how they enter the body, what happens to them inside the body, how they are eliminated from it; the effects of genetics, age, and disease on drug action — these topics are important for, although they will generally not be in the front of the conscious mind of the prescriber, an understanding of them will enhance rational decision taking. Knowledge of the requirements for success and the explanations for failure and for adverse events will enable the doctor to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks of drug therapy. This book discusses the requirements of BS 7671: 2008, also known as the IEE
Wiring Regulations 17th Edition, published during January 2008.
The aim of the guide is to provide an explanation of the theory and reasons
behind the Regulations, their meaning and the intent of their drafting. The book
provides advice and guidance, demystifying the ‘requirements’ wherever possible.
Practical and original solutions have been provided, which are often not found in
other industry guidance.
A simple model of earnings, operating cash flows, and accruals developed in this section generates an explanation for the negative serial correlation in operating cash flow changes. Increases (decreases) in sales generate contemporaneous outlays (inflows) for working capital increases (decreases) that are followed in the next period by cash inflows (outflows). The result is negative serial correlation in cash flow changes. Accruals exclude the contemporaneous one-time outflows for working capital from the current period's earnings and incorporate forecasts of permanent future cash inflows.
This book contains summary information about the workings and capabilities of various significant manufacturing processes. The standard format for each chapter involves a clear summary of how each manufacturing process operates to produce its end result. In most cases, for added clarity, a schematic representation of the operation is included so that the reader can see conceptually exactly what actions are involved. In many cases, for further clarification, photographs or drawings of common equipment are presented.
Students with disabilities have the responsibility of contacting the DSO as soon
as possible after they have filed their intent to enroll with the University. A staff
member will assist students in putting together a disability-related documentation
packet for review, and will set up an intake interview for students with the director
in order to assess their needs. Students’ documentation should be sent to the DSO
either by fax or by regular mail as soon as possible before the first semester of
enrollment at Pepperdine.
Earnings occupy a central position in accounting. It is accounting's summary measure of a firm's performance. Despite theoretical models that value cash flows, accounting earnings is widely used in share valuation and to measure performance in management and debt contracts.
Various explanations have been advanced to explain the prominence of accounting earnings and the reasons for its usage. An example is that earnings reflects cash flow forecasts (e.g., Beaver, 1989, p. 98; and Dechow, 1994) and has a higher correlation with value than current does cash flow (e.g.

We wrote this book to share with other ecologists what we have learned about the structure and
use of theory and its relationship to the myriad activities that constitute modern science. Our
own quest was motivated by the sometimes unclear way in which the term “theory” is used in
both scientifi c publications and informal discussions. We needed to fi nd out what theory was
and how it was built. We also wanted to evaluate the varied and often contradictory claims made
about what constitutes proper scientifi c practice.

This book focuses on the front-end aspects of Web design—HTML authoring,
graphics production, and media development. It is not a resource for program-
ming, scripting, or server functions; however, whenever possible, I have tried to
provide enough background information on these topics to give designers a level
of familiarity with the terminology and technologies. The content in this book is
appropriate for all levels of expertise—from professionals who need to look up a
particular detail, to beginners who may require full explanations of new concepts
and individual tags.
This book is an explanation and analysis of micro cap stocks.
These very small companies have endured a checkered history. In
general terms, micro caps are large in absolute numbers but
historically have been a small and misunderstood sector of the
investment landscape. In this world of efficient markets and index
funds, this perception has started to change. Many micro cap com-
panies are well-managed, high-quality businesses that present an
excellent investment opportunity.
