Homologous recombination (HR) serves to eliminate deleterious
lesions, such as double-stranded breaks and interstrand crosslinks,
from chromosomes. HR is also critical for the preservation of replication
forks, for telomere maintenance, and chromosome segregation
in meiosis I. As such, HR is indispensable for the maintenance
of genome integrity and the avoidance of cancers in humans. The
HR reaction is mediated by a conserved class of enzymes termed
This guidance is not legally-binding. It represents a synthesis of the information and experience
available to the Commission. It is intended as a summary of the current state of the art with
respect to best practice on integrated environmental management. The guidance is not intended to
be a rigid set of rules to be followed in all circumstances. The mere fact that there is so much
diversity between cities across the EU means that no one solution is applicable nor appropriate
for all situations.
Work on Deisboeck and Kresh's Complex Systems Science in BioMedicine
started years ago. In fact, thoughts and ideas leading up to this textbook date
back to our first conversation, sometime in the fall of 1996. We quickly found
common ground, and talked about emergence and self-organization and their
relevance for medicine. We were both fascinated by the idea of complexity and
marveled about its tremendous possibilities for cancer research, which was then
and still is Tom's main scientific interest. Much has happened in science and
technology since we first discussed our vision.
The scientific literature suggests that the best unit
to assess ecosystems is the 'socio-ecological system
(SES)' (Gallopin, 1991, Glaser, 2008). SES integrates
ecosystem functions and dynamics as well as
human activities and the interactions of all these.
The SES is equivalent to the SNA's institutional
unit. Considering the production of ecosystem
services, and in particular provisioning services,
SESs are more or less homogenous.
To get interested consumers to your website, the site needs to be visible to surfers
using Google. Why is Google so important? The research firm Hitwise which measures
Web audiences, estimates that Google has 72% of the US search engine market,
versus 17.9 % for Yahoo. Microsoft’s two search services, MSN and Live.com,
constitute a distant third, at a combined 5.4 percent. Many website owners who track
where their visitors come from report that Google’s search engine now refers 80 to 90%
of their visitors.
For optimal results on Google you will want...

species-specific genes are mainly involved in unique, species-specific processes of the parasites and thus are potential targets for antimalarial strategies. David Roos (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA) introduced the updated version of the Plasmodium Genome Resource [http://www.PlasmoDB.org], which includes the complete P. falciparum genome as well as the partial genome sequences of additional plasmodial...
Since the discovery of X rays by Roentgen in 1895, the ionizing radiation has been
extensively utilized in a variety of medical and industrial applications. And it has also
played crucial roles in development of modern sciences and technologies, as witnessed
by more than 60 Nobel Prize winners awarded for achievements in atomic sciences
and ionizing radiation-related researches.
The extensions of the environment with the integration of sensing systems in
any space, in conjunction with ubiquitous computing are enabling the so-called Smart
Space Sensor Networks. This new generation of networks are offering full connectivity
with any object, through the Internet of Things (IoT) and/or the Web, i.e., the Web of
Things. These connectivity capabilities are making it feasible to sense the behaviours of
people at home and act accordingly. These sensing systems must be integrated within
typical elements found at home such as furniture.
Training camps of one-day duration on ‘Farmers Training on Economic Dairy Farm
Management’ were held between 6 December 2001 and 30 June 2002. The numbers of
farmers participating were 545 from Mymensingh, 400 from Khulna-Satkhira, 395 from
Sirajgong-Pabna and 396 from Chittagong. The training was completed in 49 batches, with
individual batches comprising 30–40 farmers.
The farmers were introduced to the project objectives, work plan and expected
The current extraordinary advances in basic biomedical and social sciences
have unprecedented potential to improve the human condition. These
insights, together with the human genome project and its successor
proteomics, will require an enormous commitment to translational research
to harvest their applications for medicine and public health. The progress
in political and social theory, linguistics, statistics, psychology, and behavioral
sciences generally deserves a similarly broad application of human
research to reach full expression.

Network attacks cause organizations several hours or days of downtime and serious breaches in data confidentiality and
integrity. Depending on the level of the attack and the type of information that has been compromised, the consequences of
network attacks vary in degree from mildly annoying to completely debilitating, and the cost of recovery from attacks can
range from hundreds to millions of dollars.
When application availability is compromised by attacks, companies can easily losemillions of dollars per hour.
Experience seems to demonstrate that trade liberalisation and an increase in foreign trade
do enable a better allocation of resources and more economic growth. Nevertheless, for
that growth also to lead to more development, understood as poverty reduction in its
different aspects, according to Steinberg there have to be additional conditions. Many of
them are concerned with the existence of a national development strategy that facilitates
a pro-poor distribution of growth.
