Our model identiﬁes new explanations for why large and small ﬁrms make different insurance offer
decisions; they are based on turnover rates and within-ﬁrm and between-ﬁrm heterogeneities. Large
ﬁrms tend to have greater within-ﬁrm heterogeneity than small ones, and so they are more likely to have
some employees who strongly desire health insurance and less likely to attract only workers who do not
ﬁnd health insurance attractive.
Sindbis virus (SV) is the prototype of alphaviruses which are a group of widely distributed human and animal pathogens. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) A1 is an RNA-binding protein that shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Our recent studies found that hnRNP A1 relocates from nucleus to cytoplasm in Sindbis virus (SV)-infected cells. hnRNP A1 binds to the 5′ UTR of SV RNA and facilitates the viral RNA replication and translation.

Last decade major advances have been made in the field of mouse model engineering.
Newly developed conditional mouse models have overcome important drawbacks in conventional
mouse models. Conditional mouse models are especially suited for the development
of models of sporadic human carcinomas. These models can control gene (in)activation
in a time and/or tissue-specific manner. Here, we review two important conditional mouse
model systems, based on the Tet off/on and the Cre-Lox system.
We report here the direct evidence for the formation of alternative DNA structures in a plasmid DNA, termed pTIR10, containing a 0.23-kb pyrimidine/purine-biased (Pyr/Pur) stretch isolated from the rat genome. Long Pyr/Pur sequences are abundant in eukaryotic genomes, and they may modulate the biological activity of genes and genomes via formation of various types of triplex-related structures.
