This book is based on material from the first 12 issues of the Green Building Digest. We began to publish the digest in 1995 in an attempt to distribute information abuot the enviromental impact of building material and techniques to a wide range of people conectned with the built environment in England...
Through the efforts of a wide array of public and private organizations around the globe,
a strong and growing movement is beginning the process of transforming the systems
that create the built environment from ones that pay no attention to resources and the
environment to a new variety in which these considerations are the pre-eminent criteria
for “good” construction. Although dating back only to the early 1990s, there is already
ample evidence that the “green building” movement is affecting the design, construction,
operation, and disposal of the built environment....
This book is literally the first step on your path to a lifetime of wealth. And as any seasoned traveler knows, the first step is always the most exciting. So, please put one foot in front of the other, and let’s take that first step down the green brick road.
ETP2010 will build on the success of earlier editions, by providing decision makers with more detailed practical information and tools that can help kick-start the transition to a more secure, sustainable and affordable energy future.
The ConnectM Energy Management Solution is designed to help you intelligently monitor, and optimise the energy consumed by the various energy assets like lighting, HVAC, and DG sets. ConnectM also leverages the solution framework for enhancing the in-building fire and security operations.Lighting & HVAC
ConnectM focuses on Energy technologies (Clean Tech) with its Energy Management Solution. Organizations spend typically about 20% of their energy on lighting, 60% on HVAC, 10% on their Datacenters and 20% on essential equipments & machineries....
The hot air produced by the projection lamphouses must always be extracted to the outside of the
building. This is not new and you have to be very careful regarding this exhaust air. The correct exhaust
of the hot air ensures a longer service life of your equipment as well as better ageing characteristics of
your lamps and an optimized functional capability of your installation.
You have to correctly calibrate the flow of the exhaust air in accordance with the lamp power (or the
max. lamp power allowed for the lamphouse - see...
There is growing recognition of the large health
and productivity costs imposed by poor indoor
environmental quality (IEQ) in commercial
buildings—estimated variously at up to hundreds
of billions of dollars per year. This is not
surprising as people spend 90% of their time
indoors, and the concentration of pollutants
indoors is typically higher than outdoors,
sometimes by as much as 10 or even 100 times.
The relationship between worker comfort/pro-
ductivity and building design/operation is com-

“Have you thanked a green plant today?” reads a popular bumper sticker.
Indeed, we should thank green plants for providing the food we eat, fiber for
the clothing we wear, wood for building our houses, and the oxygen we breathe.
Without plants, humans and other animals simply could not exist. Psychologists
tell us that plants also provide a sense of well-being and peace of mind,
which is why we preserve forested parks in our cities, surround our homes
with gardens, and install plants and flowers in our homes and workplaces.
In 2005, the baseline country studies pointed to a
lack of connection between advocacy for reduction
of maternal mortality in national-level planning and
the necessary linkage to effective programmatic
responses through resource allocation, capacity-
building and human-resource development.
The 2011 case-studies suggest that this problem
persists: despite a closing of the gap between
policy and programmes, the limited progress
with improving health outcomes has shown the
importance of strengthening health systems –
particularly for maternal and newborn health.
Within a sketch you can create 2D-wireframe geometry which can be used to produce
Solids or surfaces and is represented by a solid line font. 2D-construction wireframe
geometry can also be created which is used as an aid to produce the solid 2Dwireframe
geometry. To position and control the size of the sketch, geometric and
positional constraints are used which are displayed in green. A Sketch Node will be
attached to the Specification Tree in which the Sketch Axis, Geometry and
Constraints details are held.
Ian and Jane also became involved in processing and marketing their own products
about five years ago. They found that there is a lot to learn about running a paddock-
to-plate supply chain, including hiring staff and building strategic partnerships.
Employment problems, particularly recruiting and training the right people, proved to
be a significant issue for the business.
Vancouver’s green economy is growing more than twice as fast
as traditional sectors. he green economy includes jobs in clean
technology and products, green building design and construction,
sustainability consulting and education, recycling and composting,
local food, green transportation, and much, much more.
Green jobs can be found across traditional and new industry sectors.
Twenty years ago, world leaders gathered at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and signed the
first global agreement to tackle climate change. At the time, the impacts of climate change on
communities and economies were just beginning to be understood, and the role of the private
sector in responding to these challenges was only just emerging. But two decades later, climate
change is no longer a distant threat looming on the horizon; it has emerged as arguably the
greatest global challenge of our time.
The interaction between these
two variables, however, provided a better predictor of beverage preference. Similar
results, in terms of the interaction between product choice and usage situation were
found by Green and Rao (1972), Belk (1974) and Srivastava et al. (1978). In a later
study, Srivastava (1980) examined the appropriateness of financial services in a
particular situation and found it to be relatively stable across situations, thus providing
further support for using consumption situations as a basis for segmenting the market.
Several filers reported suspected Ponzi schemes where subjects gathered client
funds for investment in commercial real estate or real estate securities without
actually purchasing the underlying assets. A hedge fund claimed to invest millions
in CMBS and credit derivatives, but the filer found no evidence of CMBS ownership.
The hedge fund primarily bought long-term certificates of deposit earning minimal
interest, which were inconsistent with the fund’s investment strategy. In addition,
the filer noted many small client deposits, consistent with a Ponzi scheme.

We have set out below our key messages resulting from the work of
the Midwifery 2020 programme which underpin the vision of how
midwives can lead and deliver care in a changing environment. They
reinforce and restate the core values of the profession, celebrate the
achievements made in the past, and show how midwives can continue
to strengthen their unique contribution as key professionals who ensure
that women, their partners and their babies have safe and life
