  • Presence of epigenetic marks enables cells with the same genotype have potential to display different phenotypes and differentiate into many cell-types with different functions, and responses to environmental and intercellular signaling. For example, DNA methylation is essential for the process of imprinting. Imprinted genes are expressed from only one parental allele. This mono-allelic gene expression is directed by epigenetic marks established in the mammalian germ line and a single mutation, either genetic or epigenetic, can cause disease.

Through its case-law the ICJ has made immense contributions to the development of human rights law, and in so doing continues to provide solutions to mounting international prob- lems, such as terrorism and unilateral use of force.

  • We address the issue of on-line detection of communication problems in spoken dialogue systems. The usefulness is investigated of the sequence of system question types and the word graphs corresponding to the respective user utterances. By applying both ruleinduction and memory-based learning techniques to data obtained with a Dutch train time-table information system, the current paper demonstrates that the aforementioned features indeed lead to a method for problem detection that performs significantly above baseline.

This idea, however, cannot be put into practice in the Czech Republic before the health promoting school model programme is tested and revised by its authors. Another reason why this idea is premature is the fact that the health promoting school model programme has not yet gained all the necessary conditions to function within the educational system.

  • Previous studies evaluate simulated dialog corpora using evaluation measures which can be automatically extracted from the dialog systems’ logs. However, the validity of these automatic measures has not been fully proven. In this study, we first recruit human judges to assess the quality of three simulated dialog corpora and then use human judgments as the gold standard to validate the conclusions drawn from the automatic measures. We observe that it is hard for the human judges to reach good agreement when asked to rate the quality of the dialogs from given perspectives.
