'You have won and I have lost. But, from now on you too are dead ... You
existed in me — and this body is your own. See how completely you have, through my
death, murdered yourself.'
The short stories of Edgar Allan Poe are often strange, wild and highly
imaginative. Many of them examine in an extremely detailed way the dark side of
human existence. In his time, Poe was a very original writer.
Imagine for a moment that you are a woman who weighs 350
pounds. Only two months ago, you weighed 342 pounds and, in
spite of diets and promises and tablets bought over the Internet,
you gained another eight pounds. You have given up on exercise
because it left you breathless; at night, your face is covered by an
oxygen mask that, at least, lets you get some sleep. Three years
ago you learned that you have diabetes; a year ago you were told
that you needed to have your knee replaced. Your husband left
right after the last pregnancy, one of three children who are now
all ashamed to...
It was Bertha Pappenheim — the famous “Anna O.” of Josef Breuer’s first
experiments with psychoanalysis, and a pioneer social worker in her own
right — who first named psychotherapy “the talking cure.” And so it is, as
a legion of well-controlled studies documents. Across a surprising variety
of psychotherapeutic approaches, verbal exchanges between client and
therapist can be powerfully curative — except when they aren’t.
When thinking about traffic, I’ve a funny imagination of circulatory system. We
need circulatory system to pass nutrients, blood cells, hormones through the human body,
so does with the traffic. Traffic is one of the most important thing that every countries must
pay much concern. And traffic in Viet Nam, what we’ve done in 10 years? Written by Dao Hai Anh from ktb49dh2 VIMARU
Feng Shui means the Wind and Water. When wind and water combines, they form energy which the Chinese refers to as "Qi". Every living things on the planet Earth is affected by it.
For example, 70% of our body is water. Imagine, if the water you drink does not have good "Qi", you will get ill easily. Our body also needs air, the oxygen. If you don't breathe for 10 minutes, you will die. Therefore the study of Feng Shui is the study of how the "Qi" affects us.
Nanoscience has emerged to become one of the most exciting areas of research
today and has attracted the imagination of a large body of students, scientists,
and engineers. The various kinds of nanomaterials that one normally deals
with are the zero-dimensional nanocrystals, one-dimensional nanowires and
nanotubes, and two-dimensional nanofilms and nanowalls. Of these, one of the
earliest research investigations pertains to nanocrystals. It is truly remarkable
that Michael Faraday made nanocrystals of gold and other metals in solution
way back in 1857.
I first met Tracy Anderson in 2006 on a busy afternoon in New York City. I had
heard about her from a mutual friend who had raved that Tracy had changed her
body and her life, and I was curious to see what lay in store. Never could I have
imagined when she opened the door, tiny and blonde and smiling, how much of an
impact she would have, not only on my physical body, but also on the road that
lay ahead. She promptly stripped me down and sized me up. I was still a
good 15 pounds over the weight I like to be...
Alternative medicine is recognized as medical products and practices that do not belong to
the standard cares taken by medical doctors, doctors of osteopathy and allied health professionals.
Alternative medicine includes the mind-body interventions (i.e., meditation, yoga,
acupuncture, deep-breathing exercises, guided imageryAny of various techniques (such as a
series of verbal suggestions) used to guide another person or oneself in imagining sensations—
especially in visualizing an image in the mind—to bring about a desired physical response
(such as stress reduction).
As this article will argue, these archaeological discoveries and the subsequent
displays arising from them provided a new visual and material culture of archaeology
that inspired a British re-fashioning both in clothing and identity. The work of
imagining the impact of classical Greek dress – on the body, health, and national
fitness – provoked new ways of considering British civilisation both in relation to the
ancient world and to existing cultures of nationhood in the 1880s.
In the autumn of 1994, a New Yorker cartoonist imagined a clinical scene
in which a patient who is literally radiant with health, his body throwing
off a nearly blinding aura of wellness, is nevertheless being sternly admonished
by his physician because he has achieved his health the wrong way:
“You’ve been fooling around with alternative medicines, haven’t you?” the
New Yorker cartoons constitute the most sensitive of barometers to shifting
currents in America’s cultural atmosphere.
Drawing a cartoon princess will be a breeze if you've been through the other lessons. However, for those who struggle a bit with creativity and imagination, all you need to do is follow these five steps on your way to a royal success.
Step 1 - The Head and Body As usual, we are going to start our drawing with some basic shapes. Your head will be an oval, almost completely round but not quite. It's going to literally float above our body for now. To create the body, we're creative with our lines. curved arcs that face right, another...
Can you imagine walking out your door and running a marathon? Yes,
right now—without any preparation or training. Would you even
try? Of course not! You wouldn’t even begin to consider running that
marathon without training and conditioning.
Well, in many ways childbirth is like running a marathon. It’s every bit as
arduous—some would say even more so—and the changes and stresses on your body
and emotions are even greater. Yet many if not most women go through this unique
time of their lives with little or no training....
