cluding confounding variables (such as the economic position of the
household, the schooling level of the father or the roles played by mass media rather than schools)
usually reinforces the conclusion of an independent role of the schooling of the mother. However,
attempts at unpicking the pathways through which girls’ schooling might have the effects on their later
lives that is ascribed to it have been less successful.
To support continued progress toward the most critical goals and outcomes, the FY 2013 request
reprioritizes and adjusts funding levels. Where possible, the Agency is leveraging its resources
by expanding or building new partnerships with other federal agencies.
The doctoral programme in Business Economics is an advanced, four-year programme

and strategy and innovation. The programme is designed to develop and nurture young
talent and prepare PhD graduates for careers in both academia and international business.
Earlier, Lau and Yotopolous (1971) estimated an equation for the profit function in
differences in economic efficiency between large and small farms in India and found
that small farms attained a higher level of economic efficiency. Sahidu (1974) adopted
the Lau–Yotopolous model to sample of Indian wheat farms and came out with a contrary
conclusion – that large and small farms exhibited equal economic efficiency in both the
technical and price senses.
The decision to invest in stocks requires not only an assessment of the risk-return trade-off
given the existing data, but also an act of faith (trust) that the data in our possession are
reliable, that the overall system is fair. Episodes like the collapse of Enron may change not only
the distribution of expected payoffs, but the fundamental trust in the system that delivers those
payoffs. Most of us will not enter a three-card game played on the street, even after observing
a lot of rounds (and thus getting an estimate of the “true” distribution of payoffs).
Children, especially those in groups, are more likely to get infectious diseases than are adults. As a
childcare provider, you will be exposed to infectious diseases more frequently than will someone
who has less contact with children. To protect yourself and children in your care, you need to know
what immunizations you received as a child and whether you had certain childhood diseases. If
you are not sure, your health care provider can test your blood to determine if you are immune to
some of these diseases and can vaccinate you against those to which you are...
We provide a critical assessment of the method used by the Cleveland Fed to correct
expected inflation derived from index-linked bonds for liquidity and inflation risk premia and
show how their method can be adapted to account for time-varying inflation risk premia.
Furthermore, we show how sensitive the Cleveland Fed approach is to different measures of
the liquidity premium. In addition we propose an alternative approach to decompose the
bias in inflation expectations derived from index-linked bonds using a state-space estimation.
The organisation and structure of the independent design profession in different

The country case studies make clear that international partners share
some of the blame, particularly because they too often fail to coordinate
programs to help promote more integrated, comprehensive health care
for women. However, it is equally clear that many of the obstacles are
wholly local in nature: National governments and policymakers are
often unable or unwilling to initiate or sustain health care programs and
reforms that would improve women’s access to services and, by extension,
reduce rates of vertical transmission.
While significant parts of this book have been written anew, it have drawn
on material from a number of previously published articles. Sometimes only a
part of an article made it into the final manuscript; in other cases, its parts ended
up in different chapters of the book; in yet other case, a whole article became the
basis for one of the sections. In the following I list the articles which were used as
material for the book. Many of them were reprinted and translated into other
languages; here I list the first instance of publication in English. Also, it...
Nevertheless for both leisure and business markets, perhaps the most important criterion for selecting
to visit or not to visit a destination is its image. Image is the set of expectations and perceptions a
prospective traveler has of a destination. Past experience of the destination or the companies involved
(i.e. airlines, hotels, tour operators); descriptions by friends and relatives; general information; and
marketing campaigns develop these expectations and perception which may be true or imaginary
representations. (Baloglu and Brinberg, 1997; Chon,1991 and 1992; Chacko, 1997).
Community arts and cultural activities, through their intrinsic expressive
and exploratory processes and products, have the capacity to catalyze or
reinforce place-making through each component of the architecture of
community: through the coalescing of social and civic relationships around
creative activity; through the creation and reinforcement of quality public
assets that incubate or nurture art and culture; through market demand for
commercial and residential space used by artists and the creative sector in
general; and through networked enterprises of cultural instituti...
Care should be taken in choosing preservatives. For example, Method 5035 notes
that, “Soil samples that contain carbonate minerals (either from natural sources or
applied as an amendment) may effervesce upon contact with the acidic preservative
solution in the low concentration sample vial.” Therefore, calcareous soils that
effervesce on contact with the preservative solution, which is intended for low-level
samples, should be preserved using an alternative technique.
These guidelines are intended to be applicable to all SAIs and to all audits. This has required a
particular approach to their presentation. The guidelines below, presented in bold type, are
stated as basic principles. It is considered that each SAI is best equipped to decide how best to
implement each guideline in the context of its own structure and of the types of audits that it
performs. For example, in an SAI with a highly decentralised management structure (such as
some “courts of audit”) responsibility for implementing the guidelines may...
THE LAVA landscapes in Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park are quite aesthetic-
ally stimulating. On a memorable evening, I watched, in the twilight, red
lava roll down into the ocean. The seashore on which I stood had literally
been made only a few months before. Here was more land flowing forth; I
knew something of how the world was made. Next morning, overlooking a
dormant crater, steaming with sulphurous fumes, I noticed flowers and a little
food. These were offerings made to Pele, a goddess who dwells in Kilauea
volcano, placating her to stop the flow.

Immediately after withdrawing, detach the needle, draw air into the syringe, reattach the
needle and express the material in the needle onto a slide. Needle tip is brought into light
contact with the slide and the aspirate is carefully expressed without spraying into the air,
which can cause air-drying and also can form aerosols, which are potentially infectious.
Preparing proper smears is critical for the end results. No matter how expertly the aspiration
is performed, if the slides are not interpretable, the procedure is totally worthless for cytologic
As the EU sovereign debt crisis is in its second year, the lack of an accepted mechanism
to deal with it is becoming dangerous to the integrity of the Euro and the EU itself.
Several EU member countries found themselves in severe economic straights as the 2008
banking crisis and the ensuing recession forced them to face liquidity crises arising from a
number of long term problems that were accentuated and made more severe.
