The mutual fund industry, beset by net
redemptions by investors and adverse global
and local market conditions, shrank by 1.6%
in terms of assets under management during
the year FY2011-2012.
However, volatile market conditions in the
last two years have led to net withdrawals
by investors to the tune of 49,406 crore INR
in FY 2010-11 and 22,023 crore INR in FY
2011-12, leading to a further drop in AuM,
in addition to the drop caused by adverse
The mutual fund industry is primarily
debt-oriented with debt funds (including
liquid funds) forming 64% of the AuM.

The ability of a regional economy to innovate drives healthy growth, but innovation is a complex concept.
How can you measure innovation in order to improve it? This index provides leaders and practitioners with
the first tool for comparing regional innovation performance with that of the United States, a state, or other
regions. Like the cluster tool, the primary advantage of the innovation index is its flexibility. Users can design
their own region and easily make comparisons across regions.
A word of caution is in order: measuring regional innovation can be tricky.

CHAPTER 1 A New, More Strategic Approach to CRM. Industry Leaders Show the Way.A Clearer Definition of CRM Is Required. Three Lessons from Leaders. The 1990s saw widespread investment by companies in software applications that automated their sales, service, and marketing processes.
In any FTTX deployment, the goal of network planners is to build the most
flexible and reliable system possible in the least amount of time and at the
lowest possible cost. ADC has been an industry leader in the development
of cost-effective plug-and-play architectures that provide both time and cost
savings while increasing the flexibility of the network. This paper will discuss the
advantages of hardened connectors and drop cables using Multi-port Service
Terminals (MSTs) for accelerated FTTX deployment and rapid service turn-up.
This guidebook on how to write scientific journal articles is mostly based on the authors’
personal experiences and their own learning curve towards successful publication. This
guidebook includes examples from over fifty journal publication attempts, most of which
have eventually been successful. Aside from their own writing experience, the authors
have also learned from various other people representing different fields through guiding
them in the writing and publishing of journal articles.
In the developed capital market, AMCs offer wider varieties of fund objectives and policies
responding to investor risk preferences. Specialized equity funds focus on narrow industry segments
dominate U.S. asset management industry (Bogle (2005)). Management fees of equity funds can be
viewed as the indicator of security selection and portfolio management skills of fund managers. Nazir
and Nawaz (2010) documented that higher management fees lead to higher total fund returns reflecting
in higher risk adjusted return or Sharpe’s ratio. ...
In many of our discussions with industry leaders, we have emphasised the need to install solar panels on the facades of new housing complexes and offices; we reiterated this more recently in last year’s Christmas letter to our members. We are now happy to announce that there has been a large step forward in this regard. The city of Zurich voted 167 to 0 in favour of renovating building envelopes in an energy-smart manner, rather than simply adhering to outdated building codes. And now an apartment building in Leimbach, on the outskirts of Zurich, is being renovated with a solar...
The emergence of fixed cinemas coincided which a huge
growth phase in the business in general; film production increased
greatly, and film distribution developed into a special activity, often
managed by large film producers. However, until about 1914, besides the
cinemas, films also continued to be combined with live entertainment in
vaudeville and other theatres (Musser 1990; Allen 1980).
We can thus place the take-off of the cinema industry between
1905 and 1907. In these years it developed its own retail outlets and did
not depend exclusively on theatres and travelling showmen.

In November 2009, EIF issued a working paper on the European microfinance market (see
Kraemer-Eis and Conforti, 2009). In this study, we found that there are wide spectra of final
beneficiaries and intermediaries and concluded that there is no common microfinance business
model in Europe. While our findings suggested that the microfinance market is immature and
fragmented, they also pointed to its growing importance as a market segment with a potential to
counter poverty and unemployment while fostering financial and social inclusion. ...
Although the day of trusts is here, still practically each of the component companies of the trusts was
developed and built up largely through the energies and especial ability of some one or two men who were the
master spirits in directing its growth. As a rule, this leader rose from a more or less humble position in one of
the departments, say in the commercial or the manufacturing department, until he became the head of his
particular section. Having shown especial ability in his line, he was for that reason made manager of the
The shifting market trends posed a significant challenge to De Beers’ preeminent position. Throughout the
1990s, the company’s inventories increased while its sales remained flat.
To address this issue De Beers chose a transformational strategy: instead of maintaining its long-standing
role as steward of the entire industry, it would become a leader in driving consumer demand.
One of the key elements of that transformation was a program called Supplier of Choice. Launched in 2003,
the program aimed to shift some of the responsibility for marketing to other players in the industry.
Our results have important implications for the performance of the mutual fund industry.
From an overall perspective, we observe more frequently funds with negative
rather than positive performance. However, the performance of the industry as a whole
is not so bad because about 80 percent of the funds produce zero alphas. In fact, the
negative average performance documented in the previous literature is not due to the
majority of funds but is only caused by one fifth of the funds.
The current UCITS framework provides little clarity on the institutions that are eligible to act
as a depositary for a UCITS fund. According to Article 23(3) UCITS Member States enjoy
significant discretion as to the institutions they deem eligible to act as UCITS depositaries,
provided that the institutions comply with the requirements of Article 23 (2) (i.e. they are
subject to prudential regulation and on-going supervision).
The parallel thematic sessions on May 27 and on May 28 presented the unique opportunity
for participants to focus and interact on a set of specific issues identified as priorities for social
funds. Initiated by session leaders, who drew upon their experiences managing social funds,
the sessions addressed the key issues with the assistance of professional facilitators from the
Learning and Leadership Center. The presence of resource persons drawn from the World
Bank staff active in project design and supervision contributed to the quality of the discus-
Advantages to the promoter are that he has direct access to the plant sup-
plier to specify his requirements and agree all technical details. He can receive
plant drawings in good time to complete the structural designs.
Adisadvantage is that, if the plant supplier is late on his promised delivery,
the promoter may have to pay the contractor for delay. To guard against this,
plant delivery times quoted to the civil contractor can allow a ‘safety margin’
on the plant supplier’s quoted delivery time.
There are several way so sustain the pure components equilibrium we have solved.
Most importantly, the two goods in question can have dierent life-cycles leading to
existence of consumers who already own one of the goods and are shopping only for the
other. If number of such consumers is substantial the small gains that bundling brings
can be oset with losses from these consumers who will be less likely to buy a bundle.
