The health-promoting effects attributed to olive oil, and the development of the olive oil industry have intensified the quest for new information, stimulating wide areas of research. This book is a source of recently accumulated information. It covers a broad range of topics from chemistry, technology, and quality assessment, to bioavailability and function of important molecules, recovery of bioactive compounds, preparation of olive oil-based functional products, and identification of novel pharmacological targets for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases....
Once an obscure subfield of finance, Market Microstructure has emerged as
a major stream of finance. In its narrowest sense, microstructure might be
defined as the study of the level and the source of transactions costs associated
with trading. It examines the organizational structure of exchanges and how the
specific market structure enhances the efficiency, transparency and information
dissemination of security trading.
The information presented in this publication has been prepared in accordance with recognized engineering principles and is for general information only. While it is believed to be accurate, this information should not be used or relied upon for any specific application without competent professional examination and verification of its accuracy, suitability, and applicability by a licensed professional engineer, designer, or architect.
Cancers of the endometrium, ovary and cervix share
certain characteristics. However, etio-pathogenesis of all
the gynecological malignancies is yet to be explored. Even
though the etiologic factors are generally environmental,
the exact cause of each gynecological cancer is not known
(Senate Community Affairs References Committee,
Commonwealth of Australia, 2006). Worldwide, cancer
incidence rates vary widely between different geographic
regions and ethnic groups.
Clients in the system specify an interest in the type of events that they are interested in.
Some examples of interests specified by clients could be sports events or events sent to a
certain discussion group. It is the system, which computes the clients that should receive a
certain event. A particular event may thus be consumed by zero or more clients registered
with the system. Events have explicit or implicit information pertaining to the clients which
are interested in the event.
In spite of the limited evidence about the behaviour of mutual funds in emerging
markets, mutual fund investment in these areas has grown markedly over the past decade at a
quicker pace than even the developed markets have shown. The growth in mutual fund
investment is influential because it shapes the future development in the securities market and
has important policy implications. The high proportion of institutional investors creates more
timely information and therefore makes the market more efficient.
Food purchasing is an important expression of food habits. This paper therefore
examines the factors associated with a household’s decision to purchase organic food
products because such information is not yet available for the study area despite
anecdotal evidence of the growing importance of organic products in the country. A
randomly chosen sample of 200 consumers in rural and urban areas of the province’s two
major regions, the former Ciskei and Transkei homeland areas, were enumerated.
Given that the pool of underutilized labour is large in almost
all developing countries (either in the form of open unemployment or in the form of hidden
unemployment in both the agricultural and the informal sector), this then leads to an increase
in employment in the modern sector which in turn leads to more incomes and savings. The
expansion of the production of the modern sector moreover brings about the penetration of
modern technology into the economy and hence an increase in productivity and goods supply,
also adding to higher incomes.
Numerous market participants and Federal Reserve staff members generously provided information that
was helpful in writing this edition of Instruments of the Money Market. These include Lawrence Aiken,
Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Keith Amburgey, International Swap Dealers Association; Albert C.
Bashawaty, Morgan Guaranty Trust Co.; Jackson L. Blanton, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond; Richard
S. Cohen, Chase Manhattan Bank, N. A.; Jerome Fons, Moody's Investors Service; David Humphrey,
Florida State University; Ira G. Kawaller, Chicago Mercantile Exchange; Thomas A.
The presence of nontraded goods in our model increases the relative volatility of nominal
and real exchange rates relative to the volatility in the model without nontraded goods.
An important aspect of the behavior of exchange rates in our model with nontraded goods
hinges on the agent's inability to optimally share the risk associated with country-speci¯c
shocks to productivity in the nontraded goods sector. In response to a (persistent) positive
shock to productivity in this sector, agents wish to consume and invest more.
The overall theme was to identify obstacles standing between men and their participation in
reproductive health and to examine strategies for overcoming these obstacles. Another cen-
tral theme was to encourage men’s participation in reproductive health by building on men’s
decision-making traditions in French-speaking African countries.
Remedial strategies for petroleum UST sites that include a combination of
active source zone treatment with enhanced natural attenuation outside the
contaminant plume core may consider chemical oxidation technologies. Many
chemical oxidation techniques also provide residual dissolved oxygen that is used
by aerobic microorganisms to biodegrade contaminants. In addition, these
technologies may also oxidize reduced electron acceptors (e.g., nitrogen to nitrate,
sulfides to sulfate), which are then used by anaerobic microorganisms to
It takes experience, practice and brain power to
be good mathematical modelers”. Mathematical model of a system must be sufficiently
simple, easy to grasp and give a clear idea about all the qualitative aspects of the
phenomenon of interest. On the other hand, it must be sufficiently accurate in bringing the
quantitative aspects of the process. Simulation represent the application of modelling
techniques to real system, thus enabling information on plant characteristics to be gained
without either constructing or operating the full scale plant or system under consideration.
The life spans of buildings are long and it may take a number of years for
performance issues to come to light, by which time the original designers have
long moved on and the opportunity to learn from experience is lost. Further,
the competitive and adversarial nature of UK construction inhibits the
dissemination of building performance information. Thus, the construction
industry in 2010 is generally still delivering buildings that are little better in real
performance terms than they were in the 1990s.
The UK goal now is to achieve 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050.
The Act requires the SEC to share any Private Fund Information filed with, or provided to it under the
Advisers Act, with the Oversight Council and other federal departments, agencies or self-regulatory
organizations. The SEC may not withhold any Private Fund Information from Congress, and must
comply with any proper requests for Private Fund Information made by other U.S. federal
departments, agencies, or self-regulatory organizations.
FFDCA governs the establishment of tolerances, requiring that these levels are sufficient to
ensure a ―reasonable certainty of no harm‖ from pesticide use. FFDCA contains specific
requirements related to children as a result of the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA)
amendments of 1996.
There are opportunities to develop wider access for students and to
consider the contribution that information technology can make to
effective and flexible education delivery through the innovative use of a
variety of teaching methods. The role of lecturers is likely to change
and they will need support to develop the skills and expertise to work
with new and advancing technology such as the appropriate use of
social networking and the use of innovative communications.
Increasing men’s participation also is a high priority for the International Planned
Parenthood Federation (IPPF/Africa), which tries to reach men in their communities, in
workplaces and schools, in hotels and bars, and through social marketing, as well as with
clinical services. Lessons learned from IPPF experience suggests that men are not opposed
to family planning or to contraception but need to receive more information, along with
community support and support from employers and opinion leaders.
A sample of 200 consumers was drawn randomly from rural and urban locations in the
two main regions of the Eastern Cape, namely the former Transkei homeland area and the
former Ciskei homeland area. By means of structured questionnaires, the respondents
were interviewed in relation to where they buy their groceries from, the types of foods
they bought, their present and future buying patterns, preferred food products, and their
reasons for choice of particular food products.
