  • Heart rate is calculated as the number of times the heart beats per minute. It usually measures ventricular rate (the number of QRS complexes) but can refer to atrial rate (the number of P waves). The method chosen to calculate HR varies according to rate and regularity on the ECG tracing.

  • In the method of creating digital terrain model (DTM) by using digital photogrammetry, the picket sampling interval (PSI) plays an important role since it strongly influences on the production effectiveness and on the accuracy of created DTMs. The optimal value of PSI must be balanced between requirements of effectiveness and of accuracy. This research is focused on the influence of PSI on root mean square error (RMSE) of created DTM and on the number of error pickets (caused by limitation of image matching technique) that must be checked and corrected manually.

  • There is a continuing need to use recent and consistent multisectoral economic data to support policy analysis and the development of economywide models. Updating and estimating inputoutput tables and social accounting matrices (SAMs), which provides the underlying data framework for this type of model and analysis, for a recent year is a difficult and a challenging problem. Typically, input-output data are collected at long intervals (usually five years or more), while national income and product data are available annually, but with a lag.

  • Applied statistics and probabilty for engineers_This is an introductory textbook for a first course in applied statistics and probability for undergraduate students in engineering and the physical or chemical sciences. These individuals play a significant role in designing and developing new products and manufacturing systems and processes, and they also improve existing systems. Statistical methods are an important tool in these activities because they provide the engineer with both descriptive and analytical methods for dealing with the variability in observed data.

  • MULTIPLE POSITIVE SOLUTIONS OF SINGULAR DISCRETE p-LAPLACIAN PROBLEMS VIA VARIATIONAL METHODS RAVI P. AGARWAL, KANISHKA PERERA, AND DONAL O’REGAN Received 31 March 2005 We obtain multiple positive solutions of singular discrete p-Laplacian problems using variational methods. 1. Introduction We consider the boundary value problem −∆ ϕ p ∆u(k − 1) = f k,u(k) , k ∈ [1,n], (1.1) u(k) 0, k ∈ [1,n], u(0) = 0 = u(n + 1), where n is an integer greater than or equal to 1, [1,n] is the discrete interval {1,...

  • We left the United States from Seattle for Shanghai, China, sailing by the northern route, at one P. M. February second, reaching Yokohama February 19th and Shanghai, March 1st. It was our aim throughout the journey to keep in close contact with the field and crop problems and to converse personally, through interpreters or otherwise, with the farmers, gardeners and fruit growers themselves; and we have taken pains in many cases to visit the same fields or the same region two, three or more times at different intervals during the season in order to observe different phases of the...

  • This study was performed to develop software sensorsto predict the BOD5 of river water and wastewater. The software sensors were based on the multiple-regression analysis using the dissolved organic carbon(DOC) concentration, UV light absorbance at 254nm and synchronous fluorescence spectra. River water samples and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)effluents were collected at 1-hour interval to evaluatethe feasibility of the software sensors.

  • Porous hydroxyapatite ceramic was synthesized by solid phase method using Ca(OH)2 and Ca3(PO4)2 at the temperature interval 200 - 350o C. The samples, after pelleting and sintering, were characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). Porous structure of hydroxyapatite was obtained with the 42 – 55% porosity.

  • This chapter describes the joint application of two soft computing methods – evolutionary algorithms and fuzzy reasoning – to the problem of adaptive distributed routing control in packet-switched communication networks. In this problem, a collection of geographically distributed routing nodes are required to adaptively route data packets so as to minimise mean network packet delay. Nodes reach routing decisions locally using state measurements which are delayed and necessarily only available at discrete sampling intervals. ...

  • The human lmo2 gene plays important roles in hematopoiesis and is associated with acute T lymphocyte leukemia. The gene encodes two protein isoforms, a longer form LMO2-L and a shorter form LMO2-S. Both isoforms function as bridge molecules to assemble their partners together to regulate their target genes. A typical LMO2 binding site consists of two elements, a GATA site and an E-box, with an interval of 9~12 bp. Methods: In this study, the combination of MBP pulldown assay and mammalian two hybrid assay were...
